Evacuation order issued for Timber Bay amid Saskatchewan wildfires
Timber Bay, Sask. located approximately 120 kilometres north of Prince Albert, was issued an evacuation notice on Sunday, June 1, 2025. (Source: Google Earth) As wildfires rage across the northern Saskatchewan, another community has been ordered to evacuate. Shortly before 11 a.m. on Sunday, residents of Timber Bay, a small community of 81 residents located in north-central Saskatchewan, were ordered to evacuate the community due to a fast-moving wildfire threatening the area. Timber Bay, situated about 30 minutes off Highway 2, which connects La Ronge and Prince Albert, is accessible via secondary Highway 969, a former main route into the north. The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) asks the residents to leave the area immediately via Highway 969 and Highway 2 and proceed to the Meridian Inn and Suites in Regina. This evacuation is part of a larger response to the ongoing wildfires in northern Saskatchewan, which have forced multiple communities to evacuate and prompted a province-wide state of emergency. The situation remains volatile, with firefighters and emergency responders working to contain the blazes and protect affected communities.
