EDP Sees No Impact From Iberia Power Market Split After Blackout
EDP SA, a Portuguese utility that also operates power plants in Spain, doesn't expect to see an impact from a temporary split in the Iberian electricity market following the April 28 blackout, Chief Executive Officer Miguel Stilwell d'Andrade said.
A couple of days after the blackout there was 'quite a strong market splitting and no imports from Spain,' the CEO said on a conference call on Friday. 'We're now back to a situation where there's already flux of energy between both countries,' he said. 'We expect that this is now normalizing. And so overall we're talking maybe about a couple of days with some higher-than-normal market splitting, but we don't expect that would have any material impact.'
