Friday night double-headers, Dogs' prime-time reward in AFL fixture; De Koning out with larynx injury

In today's AFL Briefing, your wrap of footy news: The Bulldogs have been rewarded with prime-time fixtures as the AFL released the schedule for all but the final round of the season. Tom De Koning is sidelined for Friday night's clash at the SCG after suffering a knock to his larynx in Carlton's win over the Saints. AFL releases fixture for back end of season Brittany Busch The AFL has handed the Western Bulldogs a prime-time boost with a spate of Thursday and Friday night games in the second half of the season, in a fixture that also includes three Friday night double-headers. The schedule for rounds 16-23 dropped on Thursday, revealing big Friday night programs that the AFL said were aimed at 'maximising prime-time audience whilst also managing team travel and breaks between games'. In round 17, traditional rivals Carlton and Collingwood will play at the MCG before West Coast host GWS in the first of the double-headers. It will be the first time this year two matches will be held on a Friday night, although Good Friday featured a twilight match in Melbourne followed by a late game in Perth. The Western Bulldogs have been rewarded for their strong start to the season, scoring three Friday evening slots and two Thursdays. And the Dogs' round 18 clash with Adelaide has been moved to Marvel Stadium after originally being slated for Ballarat's Mars Stadium, which is under construction. A paltry crowd of less than 5000 watched the Bulldogs thrash Port Adelaide in Ballarat in round eight, drawing a pointed sledge from ex-Bulldog Bailey Smith. The AFL has also backed in finals hopefuls Essendon and Carlton with prominent night fixtures. The Blues, who are 10th on the ladder, have struggled to live up to pre-season expectations, while the Bombers are ninth and remain strong drawcards especially while they are in the finals hunt.

Cavinder twins spill Carson Beck tea after breakup drama in new Kai Trump video

It seems there's no love lost between the Cavinder twins and Hanna's ex, Carson Beck. The former Miami Hurricanes guards, both 24, appeared to take swipes at the ex-Georgia quarterback, 23, when they linked up with Kai Trump, the granddaughter of President Donald Trump, at UFC 314 in Miami, parts of which were posted on Kai's YouTube page. In recent footage circulating on social media, Haley — newly engaged to Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson — seemingly referred to Beck as a 'little b-word' and warned, 'Never cheat on my twin.' Instagram 6 They appeared to take shots at Hanna's ex, Carson Beck. Youtube/Kai Trump 'I went up to him, I said, 'Stay off that Snapchat, boy,'' Haley said in a video posted to the @kaitrump2 TikTok page. Advertisement Although Beck's name was never specifically mentioned, the comments came roughly a month after the new Hurricanes quarterback was accused of sending Snapchat messages to another woman. Breakup buzz swirled shortly after in March as Hanna appeared to scrub traces of the romance on her Instagram page. 6 Carson Beck served as QB of the Georgia Bulldogs. AP 6 He announced his transfer to Miami earlier this year. AP Advertisement She and Beck had been linked since last summer. This isn't the first time the Cavinders have touched upon relationship drama in social media clips. In an 'unfiltered' video posted to TikTok last month by Haley, she said, 'If your sister comes to you, or your friend, or someone that's really important in your life and they have a gut feeling about a relationship or a friendship for example and they just tell you that on a repeated basis — trust your dang sister.' Haley did not name anyone specifically in the clip. Advertisement 6 Haley and Hanna Cavinder are former guards on the Miami Hurricanes' women's basketball team. Instagram 6 The siblings are also social media powerhouses. Instagram It's been something of a Beck pile-on in recent days as Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin trolled the ex-Bulldog over his NIL deal with Miami. 'Miami gave him $4.3 million? Did they watch his game against us?' Kiffin said on 'The Pivot Podcast.' In Georgia's 28-10 loss to Ole Miss last November, Beck went 20-for-31, throwing zero touchdowns and one interception. He threw for a total of 3,485 yards in 2024, along with 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions last season. Beck announced his transfer to Miami in January after reversing course on his 2025 NFL Draft plans.
