Fun for all the family as Inverclyde eco group hosts seaside picnic this weekend
AN INVERCLYDE eco group is all set for a big family picnic in the sunshine this weekend as they continue their campaign to save our beaches and ban the use of throwaway plastics continues.
Community activists Green Tangerine organised a massive spring clean-up of the Inverclyde shore, all the way from Parklea to Wemyss Bay, with hundreds of people of all ages filling more than 300 bags with litter.
Now they are rallying for a big event this at Lunderston Bay on Sunday - where they recently cleared of all kinds of rubbish, including single use plastics - and are hoping locals will join them as they 'Take Pride in Inverclyde'.

As part of the big family picnic they are also promoting sustainable travel by encouraging people to get there on their bikes - and there is also an organised community walk from Gourock.
Organiser Annette Thain is hoping as many people as possible will turn up for the free festival of fun on Sunday afternoon.
She said: "We are really looking forward to the family day after the success of our first event last year. It looks like we are going to get the weather as well.
"We are really encouraging people to think about sustainable travel so I will be getting here on my bike. We are also teaming up with local walking leaders with a community walk from Gourock.
"It promises to be a fantastic day and we have so many great activities going on.
"We just want as many people as possible to come and join us at Lunderston Bay to enjoy the day."
