NOVVI Properties' Brian Flanagan Champions Education for Orphans Through IronMan 70.3 Challenge
In a powerful show of endurance and empathy, Brian Flanagan, Leasing Director at NOVVI Properties, is set to compete in the IronMan 70.3 in Durban, South Africa this Sunday, turning a grueling athletic pursuit into a mission of hope. His goal: to raise awareness and vital funds for Future for Orphans, a non-profit dedicated to providing education for orphaned children in Afghanistan. The IronMan 70.3, comprising a 2km swim, 90km cycle, and 21.1km run is no small feat. It marks the culmination of over seven months of dedicated training for Flanagan, who sees the event not only as a test of personal limits but as a chance to make a meaningful difference. 'This Sunday in Durban, I'll be taking on the IronMan 70.3 – a 2km swim, 90km cycle, and a 21.1km run. It's about six hours of intense effort and the culmination of seven months of training,' says Flanagan. 'Being able to turn this into a platform to help children in need has been incredibly important to me.' The initiative supports Future for Orphans, which currently educates over 130 orphaned children in Afghanistan, offering them a chance at a brighter future through learning. 'I grew up in Ireland where education is free and widely accessible,' Flanagan adds. 'The opportunity to support children who've been robbed of that basic right is powerful for me – it's a deep motivation.' Flanagan's endeavor reflects the broader values and culture at NOVVI Properties. With a leadership team that leads by example and a work culture that celebrates generosity and support, his initiative is a testament to the company's belief in community impact. 'At NOVVI Properties, there's a strong culture of wanting to help each other and those in need. This initiative aligns perfectly with that ethos, which is really driven from the top by our owner's example of generosity,' he explains. 'Everybody likes to see each other succeed here, both professionally and personally.' 'Hopefully, some of the things we do inspire others, whether it's finding out what they are capable of physically or taking the time to help those in need. If we can lead by example, and others understand what NOVVI is about, then we have done something truly meaningful,'he concluded. Through this act of endurance, Flanagan hopes to inspire others to discover their own strength, whether by pushing physical boundaries or stepping up for a cause.

Former NFL Pro Bowler says one thing can prove 49ers QB Brock Purdy isn't overpaid
Former NFL Pro Bowler says one thing can prove 49ers QB Brock Purdy isn't overpaid After taking Trey Lance in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft and starting him for just two games in his rookie season, the San Francisco 49ers took a late-round flyer on Iowa State's Brock Purdy with the final pick in the 2022 NFL draft. Purdy ascended to the starting quarterback in his rookie seasons after Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo went down with injuries, and he led them to a 5-0 record. In 2023, Purdy was named the starter out of camp, led the 49ers to a 12-4 record and a Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Last year, Purdy saw a drop in production, completing just 65.9% of his passes for 3,864 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while bringing his team to a 6-9 record, which fell short of the playoffs. The 25-year-old became extension eligible this offseason, and San Francisco rewarded their quarterback with a massive five-year, $265 million extension that put him tied with the Detroit Lions' Jared Goff as the seventh-highest-paid quarterback in the NFL ($53 million annually). Purdy was already a lightning rod for conversation and hot takes, but this new contract has ramped up the discussion to the point where whether or not Purdy is worth the money is a national storyline. In fact, former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who trains with 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk in the offseason, spent some time dissecting the narrative in recent days. "If Brock Purdy takes the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl and they win it, then his contract is well worth it," Houshmandzadeh said on "Speak" on FOX Sports with Keyshawn Johnson, Paul Pierce and Joy Taylor. "Until he does that, he's overpaid." Purdy has brought his team to the brink of a Super Bowl once in just three years in the NFL and two as a full-time starter. No matter who's around him, players or coaches, that's an impressive feat. However, that's how the league works these days. If you're not winning a Super Bowl or the MVP, whether or not you're with the salary is up for debate. In 2025, Purdy will have an opportunity to prove some of his doubters wrong, and that's not something new, considering he was the first Mr. Irrelevant to start an NFL game at quarterback, and he's turned that into generational wealth.

Finishing seven marathon challenge 'emotional'
A Peel runner who completed seven marathons in a week raising £3,700 for the RNLI said he felt a sense of "jubilation" on finishing the feat. Geoff Rice ran a marathon each day between 17 and 23 May, racking up an overall distance of 183 miles (295km) and a combined elevation of 35,000 feet (10,668 metres). Completing the challenge in a total of 39 hours, with an average time of five and a half hours for each, which comprised five laps of Peel Hill ending at Peel Lifeboat Station. The 57-year-old gardener said completing the last marathon was "very emotional". With about 100 people cheering him on at the end, Geoff said: "As I was running down the hill I could see quite a few people gathering at the bottom, it was very emotional and just a good feeling to get it done." "The weather was not on my side as it was hot [and] I think the heat got to me." But he said aside from that, and picking up blisters on the third day, the week went "smoothly". He said he knew that physically and mentally he was strong enough as "a lot of it was down to discipline and keeping to the game plan". In the last few days of the challenge, about 20 people ran alongside him for portions of the course, which he said was a great help. "You needed the support, there were a lot of times where I wish I had someone to talk to as the sheep weren't saying much," he said. He said while it was "difficult to comprehend" the distance that he had run, he was "absolutely buzzing" and "still on cloud nine now". Having chosen to raise money for the RNLI he said he wanted to "put something back into the community". "I respect what the lifeboats have done," he added. RNLI community manager for the Isle of Man Dani Beckett said it was an "incredible achievement" and an "epic fundraising challenge". It was "inspiring that people believe in our mission and come up with such creative, and challenging ways to raise the vital funds we need to continue our work", she said. Chairman of Peel Lifeboat Station Stuart Blackley, who cheered Geoff on each day, said the funds would go towards safety equipment for the western branch of the RNLI.
