Man charged with felony battery after beating girlfriend in Washington County
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – The Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence on Amethyst Lane on Saturday afternoon after a woman reported her boyfriend had beaten her.
The victim's boyfriend, 34-year-old Stephen James Crigger, had beaten her during what started as a verbal argument, authorities said.
As deputies arrived at the home, they said they observed a woman who had several visible signs of a physical altercation.

The victim stated that Crigger had fled the scene as she attempted to call 911.
A department-issued K-9 arrived to assist, and Crigger was located in a wooded area behind the home a short time later.
According to authorities, Crigger had an active out-of-county warrant for the same charge. He was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail on the charge of felony battery by strangulation.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
