2 deaths ruled suspicious after fire on Métis settlement
Police say two deaths on the Elizabeth Métis Settlement are suspicious. The bodies were found at the scene of a fire at a home on Township Road 610 on Wednesday. Firefighters pulled one dead person out while they were still putting out flames, while the second person was found after the blaze had been extinguished. An autopsy will be done on both people. The Alberta RCMP's major crime unit is in charge of the investigation. The home sustained 'extensive damage' in the fire, Mounties said. Elizabeth Métis Settlement is located in the Municipal District of Bonnyville, north of LLoydminster.

Investigation set to take place after bungalow blaze
An investigation is set to be carried out to establish the cause of a bungalow fire in Derby. Six fire crews were called to the blaze, which had spread to the property from two large garages on Radford Street, Alvaston, at 18:02 BST on Saturday. The fire sent a huge plume of smoke into the sky, and people living nearby were urged to keep their windows and doors closed. The incident was scaled back by 20:45, with two crews and an aerial ladder platform remaining at the scene to "damp down". Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said all occupants of the bungalow were out of the property by the time firefighters arrived at the scene. A joint police and fire investigation into the cause of the blaze is expected to take place on Sunday, the fire service added. Follow BBC Derby on Facebook, on X, or on Instagram.
