Police probe suspicious death after man's body found at north Edmonton fire scene
Edmonton police said Sunday they're investigating after a man was found dead at the scene of an early morning fire in north Edmonton. Police said in a media release they were contacted by Edmonton Fire Rescue Services at 2:47 a.m. after firefighters found the man's body at the scene near 120 Avenue and 77 Street. Police are calling the death suspicious. Edmonton police homicide detectives have taken over the case. An autopsy is slated for Tuesday. Anyone with information about the death is asked to call police at 780-423-4567.

Decatur Fire Department responds to garage fire
DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — The Decatur Fire Department was able to extinguish a garage fire Friday afternoon before it could fully spread to a nearby home. At approximately 2:55 p.m., the department responded to the report of a detached garage fire in the 2100 block of E Whitmer Street in Decatur. Upon arrival, crews found the garage fully engulfed in flames, with the fire beginning to spread to the nearby residence. Urbana Fire Department responds to house fire Firefighters immediately started an aggressive fire attack, successfully extinguishing the garage fire and preventing further spread to the home. The quick response and effective tactics of the firefighters resulted in the damage being limited to the exterior of the residence. Additionally, the house was unoccupied at the time of the fire and was undergoing renovations. After fire suppression efforts, the Decatur Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit responded to the scene. The cause of this fire remains under investigation. In total, Battalion 1, Engine 6, Truck 2, Engine 7, Engine 4 and Engine 3 all responded to the fire. Ameren also provided help as an assisting agency on scene. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Man dies in Northwest Dallas house fire, officials say
The Brief Dallas Fire-Rescue said one man died in an early-morning house fire in Northwest Dallas Saturday. Firefighters responded to 3055 Sumter Drive around 4:45 a.m. A man was found inside the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released. Officials said arriving firefighters found fire coming from the front door of the home. Firefighters proceeded to enter the home after receiving reports that someone might be inside. Once inside, they found a man unresponsive near the entrance. Firefighters pulled the man from the home, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Firefighters were able to put the fire out just before 6 a.m. What we don't know Dallas Fire-Rescue said the cause of the fire was still under investigation. Urbana Fire Department responds to house fire
URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Roughly 20 Urbana Fire Department personnel responded to a house fire Friday evening. At approximately 6:27 p.m., the Urbana Fire Department responded to the report of a working structure fire in the 1700 block of E Mumford Drive. Engine 252 was the first unit to arrive on scene. Urbana man charged with hate crime on U of I campus following erratic behavior Upon arrival, firefighters came across active flames on the outside of the residence. The occupant of the house was trying to put out the fire with a garden hose. Fire crews immediately began extinguishing efforts on the exterior of the home. All of the residents safely left the building before the department arrived on scene. According to Deputy Chief Steve Doggett, approximately 20 department personnel members responded to this incident. The firefighters worked quickly to put out the fire, perform a thorough search of the house, check for fire extension into the interior and attic, and secure all utilities. The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes of firefighter arrival. No injuries were reported in this incident. Additionally, an investigation done by the Urbana Fire Department's Fire Investigation Team determined the cause of the fire to be accidental. Damage estimates are still pending at this time. Jeannette house fire kills 1
One person was killed in a house fire in Jeannette on Wednesday. First responders were called to a home on Scott Avenue just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday for reports of the blaze.
