Detained Columbia graduate claims ‘irreparable harm' to career and family as he pleads for release
NEW YORK — A Columbia graduate facing deportation over his pro-Palestinian activism on campus has outlined the 'irreparable harm' caused by his continued detention as a federal judge weighs his release. Mahmoud Khalil said in court filings unsealed Thursday that the 'most immediate and visceral harms' he's faced in his months detained in Louisiana relate to missing out on the birth of his first child in April.

Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo share ultrasound clip to confirm pregnancy
Former 'Made in Chelsea ' stars Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing announced they are expecting their first child together. The couple shared a heartfelt video of their first pregnancy scan, where Laing was visibly emotional. Habboo, 30, and Laing, 36, married in Spain in 2023 after becoming a couple in 2019 on 'Made in Chelsea'. Celebrity friends, including Molly-Mae Hague and Lucy Watson, have shared their congratulations. Habboo will temporarily replace Vick Hope on BBC Radio 1, joining Laing as a co-presenter, while Laing had previously expressed his desire to have 'loads' of children.
