PARIS — More than half a century ago my father was lucky enough to visit Paris, where, he said, you couldn't get a bad meal. Like most clichés, that one probably stood on shaky evidence. But Dad's take was also gospel to the best-known food writers at the time.
This spring, as usual, Paris is thronged with foreign tourists, among whom Americans are the No. 1 cohort. And plenty come thrilled to have a go at the city's staggering assortment of restaurants.
