Arrest made in Guelph swatting incident
A 33-year-old man has been arrested for faking an emergency call to police.
On Dec. 27, 2024, officers with the Guelph Police Service were dispatched to a home on Cole Road after they received a call from someone who said they were being held at gunpoint.
The force's tactical team approached the property with their gun drawn, only to find that the woman living there was alone.
It was then determined that the caller had been her former partner and it was all a hoax.
Guelph Police said the man, who has not been named, was arrested on May 31 in Northern Ontario and charged with public mischief.
The 33-year-old was released from custody with a promise to appear in a Guelph court on July 11.
