Cycling journalism in the limelight for road safety
The Paul Foot award, presented this week by Private Eye's editor, Ian Hislop, continued its mission of celebrating 'the important principle of free drink'. One of the nominees was Jim Waterson for his investigation into Lime bikes, which revealed a surge in broken legs caused by the heavy electric vehicles. Waterson's means of transport to the ceremony at the Bafta on Piccadilly was therefore somewhat surprising: he arrived on a Lime bike. Hislop said the awards gave him hope for the future of the industry. 'Journalism is alive and well!' he proclaimed, before adding: 'Sometimes I feel like Joe Biden's PR team.'
