How Sabrina Carpenter and Joey King have become 'celebrity BFF goals' - from their mutual Disney beginnings to teasing social media posts to showing their support for each other onstage and down the aisle
Sabrina Carpenter and Joey King have emerged as the Internet's favourite celebrity BFFs, as both stars have begun to take the world by storm, while maintaining their close friendship.
The Espresso singer and the The Kissing Booth actress, both 25, have been best friends for years, supporting each other throughout their hugely successful careers and big personal life events.
Fans have become obsessed with the two A-list star's tight bond, branding it: 'the best friendship ever' and 'celebrity BFF goals'.
The pair's friendship dates back all the way to when they were both starting off in the industry, with both sharing Disney Channel backgrounds.
While Sabrina's breakout role was starring as Maya Hart in Girl Meets World, Joey's first role saw her play Emily Mason in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody back in 2006.
During an interview with Wired, Joey revealed that she and Sabrina 'first met many, many years ago at, like, a charity event', recalling: 'Sabrina came over to me and was like, "Hi, I'm Sabrina!"'
However, she explained that it took them several years to get to the strong bond they have now.
She said: 'What's funny is we weren't always super close. For the first several years of our friendship, we would hang out like once every year and it was the funniest thing in the world, we don't know why it took us so long to become as close as we are now.'
Joey later told Rolling Stone in 2020 that while they had known each other for over a decade, they had only become best pals 'around four or five years ago'.
During the interview with the publication, Sabrina even sent her friend a video message that said: 'Hey Joey, you just texted me something. I haven't read your text yet, but I will soon.
'I love you so much. This is honestly the nicest I've ever been to her … is this video. I hope you having a good day, you look really pretty.'
Sabrina even tapped her talented pal to star in the music video for her 2018 single Sue Me as one of her friends, who helps cheer her up.
Sharing a photo of the pair on the set to her Instagram at the time, Joey voiced her gratitude to the singer, writing: 'Sue Me video out tomorrow. Thx for including me Daddy Sab'.
And speaking to Capital Buzz in December 2018, Sabrina revealed her eagerness to work with Joey in a film together.
She said: 'I've actually been talking to so many people about this recently because we could totally do a Tina Fey/Amy Poehler style comedy.
'We have so much fun together. We had the best time making the Sue Me video. I'm shocked we haven't done that yet.
'Maybe we just have to write it. Maybe we have to do the whole thing. It will be fun when it happens.'
While the duo have been pals for over a decade, fans have only recently begun to discover their sweet bond in the past few years, thanks to the two stunners' frequent gushing and typically hilarious social media posts to each other.

And in March, the Act star raced to another of Sabrina's stunning posts to comment: 'I'm attracted to everything this post is'.

While Sabrina has shown the love right back, taking to Joey's Instagram in January to heap praise on her bleached-eyebrow look to the W Magazine's Annual Best Performances Party, by gushing: 'rude to look this good without eyebrows'.
Fans have also become obsessed with the two stars' hysterical birthday tributes to each other over the years.
Dating back to 2016, the pair have made public posts to mark their birthdays, which are only two months apart.
Sabrina shared a sweet selfie of the duo in 2016 for Joey, writing: 'happy birthday apple to my pie', while Joey returned the favour in 2019 with another stunning snap and playful caption: 'Oh how I love you, you stupid chicken head. Happy birthday'.
In recent years, the duo have joked around a lot more, with Joey marking Sabrina's 21st by posting a photo of them together with Sabrina's face half cut out of the frame.
Another year saw the Bullet Train star sharing a photo of her sporting one of Sabrina's 'Thinking Nonsense' T-shirts and quipping: 'you're so lucky your merch was on my boobs. Happy birthday @sabrina carpenter'.
Sabrina has responded by hilariously sharing birthday tributes to her pal over an image of a bin and writing tributes such as: 'the day u were born this world was cursed. happy birthday my angel'.
And she left fans in stitches after sharing a snap of the pair to her Stories with the caption: 'happy birthday Joey thanks for stealing my car :/ and crashing it :/ and then saying my eyebrows look like live caterpillars :/ and then screwing my brother :/ and then curbstomping me behind the Outback Steakhouse :/

The pair's tight bond was made even more obvious in September 2023 when Joey tied the knot with husband Steven Piet on the island of Mallorca, with Sabrina right by her side.
The Taste songstress serenaded the bride for her walk down the aisle, and even learned to sing in Swedish to perform Tjugonde by Swedish band Amason.
Speaking to Vogue in her wedding spread, Joey admitted: 'I don't know if I have the words to say what it means to me and Steven that Sabrina sang us down the aisle.
'The song we chose was in Swedish... Sabrina does not speak Swedish… Sabrina must really love me.'
Following the nuptials, Sabrina took to Instagram to share a sweet tribute to Joey, who she referred to as her 'wife', alongside photos of the embracing and dancing together on her big day.
She wrote: 'my wife got married and i wept and wept. i felt so immensely lucky to be part of your special day @joeyking @stevenpiet i love you both dearly!!!! congrats on your love.'
While Joey has frequently shown her support for Sabrina's music and praise for her stratospheric level of success last year.
She supported her bestie when she performed at the 2024 NYC Governor's Ball, and admitted she was 'sobbing' afterwards.
She told PEOPLE: 'Yesterday is the first time I've seen her perform in a few years because every time that I wanted to go to one of her big shows, our just schedules kind of miss each other.
'I literally was sobbing after the show. I was so proud of her. She's just amazing.'
While Joey also joked that Sabrina was 'really rude' for writing such an addictive song and music video for Please Please Please that she was forced to listen to again and again.
She quipped: 'I'm so happy for her and I just can't stop singing Please Please Please … get out of my head.
'It's so rude of her to make a hit like that. It's also so rude to make such an addicting music video. It's really rude to make me watch it six times at 2:00 a.m. when I want to go to bed.'
After being asked by PEOPLE in September to name her favourite song from the Short n' Sweet album, Joey once again gushed: 'Okay this changes literally every day. It's been really tough because I've asked myself this question every day.'
Listing her stand-out tracks, she went on: 'I don't know because okay, I'll tell you where I'm stuck here. Because Bed Chem, oh my God, it's so good.

The Golden Globe nominee took her nieces and sisters-in-law to see the concert in their home town, and chose to hang out in the mosh pit with the fans rather than watch the show from the VIP section.
Taking to social media to share snaps from the gig, she gushed: 'I got to see my wife perform in chi town last night and I cried of course. She's just the shortest and sweetest pop star I've ever seen'.
Referring to Sabrina's famously racy track from the album she added: 'I might let her make me Juno.'
While in another post on her Instagram Stories showing the two friends embracing backstage, Joey praised her pal's performance writing: 'I love you my brina. perfect girl. perfect show. Feel so lucky to watch you shine.'
Videos from the night showed the actress dancing and jumping to the tracks Please Please Please and Good Graces, while she also took her family backstage to pose for snaps with the Espresso star.
