Carolyn Hax: How to shut down an in-law who thinks her meanness is funny?

Dear Carolyn: Help! I have a big family get-together this weekend, and my passive-aggressive, often snarky, cruel, insecure sister-in-law is coming. She loves to 'jokingly' belittle people — including me, my parents, my brother (her husband) and anyone else — and I do not want to put up with it. She thinks she's being funny, but it just shows how petty and judgmental she is.
