Brooks Koepka Has Meltdown Before Abruptly Withdrawing From LIV Golf Event
Brooks Koepka Has Meltdown Before Abruptly Withdrawing From LIV Golf Event originally appeared on Athlon Sports. While the Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club continues with Andrew Putnam, Philip Knowles, and Chris Kirk battling it out at the top, chaos unfolded several states away at LIV Golf Dallas. Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka stole headlines, not for brilliance on the course, but for an explosive meltdown that ended in an unexpected withdrawal. Advertisement Koepka, representing Smash GC, was already having a nightmare round at Maridoe Golf Club. After carding triple bogeys on both the fifth and seventh holes, he stood at 6-over par by the front nine. But it was the ninth hole that saw him snap, literally. Following an errant drive, a frustrated Koepka slammed his club into the ground and smashed a tee marker, sending it flying toward spectators. Fortunately, no one was hurt. He bogeyed the 10th and 13th holes before officially withdrawing during the 14th, citing an illness. While LIV later confirmed he could still return over the weekend to contribute to his team's score, Koepka's individual run is likely done. It's been a frustrating season for the 35-year-old. Koepka missed cuts at both the Masters and PGA Championship and hasn't posted a top-10 finish in a major since 2021. 'It drove me (expletive). It ate at me. I haven't been happy. It's been very irritating,' Koepka admitted earlier this month, speaking on his recent form slump. Advertisement Koepka's outburst isn't the only one seen this week. On the PGA Tour side, Stephan Jaeger went full 'Happy Gilmore,' smashing three clubs in frustration during the Rocket Classic's early rounds. As both events head into the weekend, Koepka's meltdown is a stark reminder of how brutal this game can be even for the best in the world. Brooks Koepka suffers meltdown and smashes tee marker into fans before withdrawing from LIV Dallas claiming ‘illness'
BROOKS KOEPKA smashed a tee marker towards fans in a shocking meltdown. The five-time major winner lost his temper at the LIV Golf Dallas event yesterday. 4 4 4 4 Koepka got off to a nightmare start at the Maridoe Golf Club with triple bogeys on the fifth and seventh holes. He was seven over par by the time he got to the ninth and his frustrations then boiled over. A wild tee shot veered to the left and Koepka angrily smashed his club into the ground. He then turned to a tee marker and smacked it off the course. It went flying close to where fans were standing - but fortunately nobody was hurt. Many are demanding action is taken, with one saying: "He should be fined and suspended." Another added: "Unacceptable behaviour. Anyone doing this needs stiff penalties." A third wrote: "These pros need to stop with the club throws, ground pounds and course destruction." Koepka's struggles continued and he eventually pulled out on the 14th hole due to an illness. Luis Carrera has replaced him in the Smash GC team. Koepka could decide to return to the action this weekend, though he is out the individual event and would only be representing the team. The 35-year-old American is in woeful form after failing to make the cut at the Masters and PGA Championship this year. He has not finished in the top ten in the last nine majors.

Brooks Koepka Turns Heads With On-Course Meltdown Before Withdrawal
Brooks Koepka Turns Heads With On-Course Meltdown Before Withdrawal originally appeared on Athlon Sports. To say that Brooks Koepka's recent form on the golf course has been unpredictable is an understatement. Advertisement On the LIV Golf Tour, Koepka has had a mixed bag of results this season, with a pair of top-10 finishes, and four finishes outside of the top 30. Meanwhile, in the major championships, Koepka has not been up to his usual form, missing the cut at both the Masters and the PGA Championship before finishing in a tie for 12th at the U.S. Open. So to see Koepka struggle once again this week at the LIV Dallas tournament didn't come as a surprise. To see him melt down on the course, whack a tee-marker into a crowd of people, and then withdraw from the tournament due to "illness" in the first round, certainly turned some heads. "PGA to LIV to fall from grace," another added. "Bro must have hungout with Rory and Wyndham last week," one fan commented. There were no reports of any injuries from the tee-maker smash, but it is undoubtedly a bad look for Koepka, who has been struggling to get his game into form after being such a dominant force on the PGA Tour, winning five major championships, before moving over to LIV in 2021. Koepka has been open and honest about his recent frustrations, admitting this past month at the U.S. Open that he was aware of his struggles, and working hard to fix the. Advertisement 'From the first weekend in April until about [the beginning of June], you didn't want to be around me,' Koepka said after the first round of the U.S. Open. 'It drove me nuts. It ate at me. I haven't been happy. It's been very irritating.' A top-12 finish followed at the Open, but it appears that the frustrations have returned for Koepka.
