The IDC MarketScape research evaluated hardcopy vendors that provide remanufactured devices and/or consumables to the worldwide marketplace. These products are manufactured according to the same set of standards as new equipment, with the remanufacturing process primarily carried out across the Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and North America regions.
The IDC MarketScape report notes that "Ricoh has a long history in remanufacturing capabilities." Ricoh believes this highlights its long-standing investment and deep-rooted commitment to environmental sustainability.
The report noted Ricoh was recognised for the following strengths: historical activities, future road map, robust office portfolio, production device offerings, global reach and direct customer contracts.
The assessment went on to note that "Ricoh should be considered when a full range of toner devices are required, coupled together with industry software and solutions which perform the same regardless of whether the devices are remanufactured or new builds (as Ricoh can offer both sets for offices and other areas such as production)."
Katsunori Nakata, Executive Corporate Officer and President of RICOH Digital Products Unit, Ricoh Company, Ltd. said, "We believe this latest recognition from the IDC MarketScape not only validates our position as a leader in worldwide hardcopy remanufacturing, but also our long-standing commitment to sustainability, especially in reducing the environmental impact of our products throughout their entire lifecycle...
… By bringing technology and people together, we help organisations modernise their print infrastructure and accelerate digital transformation. At the same time, we remain committed to building a better, more sustainable future - exemplified by devices and consumables that are designed from the outset with refurbishment and remanufacturing in mind."
Additionally, the IDC MarketScape report noted the increasing demand from technology buyers for the reuse of devices and consumables, as sustainability continues to be a top business priority. This is now part of the overall strategy and decision-making process, with the focus of sustainability shifting from supporting general environmental issues to fulfilling the specific requirements of the circular economy.
