The 'elegant' $17 product from Kmart Australia shoppers are rushing to buy: 'I need this'

Customers are marvelling over an 'adorable' $17 lamp from Kmart Australia to spruce up home corners and hallways. The Olivia Glass Portable Rechargeable Lamp has stunned thousands across the country for its 'elegant' design. One woman from Melbourne bought the lamp to brighten her dark hallway and was pleasantly surprised by how much light the small product provides. 'To be honest I wasn't expecting these lamps to work so well. The front part of the hallway is really dark, and can be really dark during the day in winter as well,' she wrote on Facebook. 'I thought I'd give the lamps a try and wow, I love them.' Kmart also shared a short video boasting about the latest product, which has three brightness levels, a push button switch and is lightweight. 'Light up your space with this Kmart Find. This $17 Olivia glass lamp brings the perfect glow, whether you're reading, chilling, or just avoiding the big light,' the caption read. The lamp provides warm, ambient lighting and can operate for six hours once fully charged. The Olivia Glass Portable Rechargeable Lamp from Kmart Australia has stunned thousands across the country for its elegant design Other shoppers who have bought the lamp praised it on Facebook while others felt encouraged to buy it. 'Love my mine also. I have one on in my foyer and two on my piano. It's great have three brightness options,' one wrote. 'Well now I want these,' another admitted. 'So pretty and calming,' a third added. Earlier this year Kmart released another rechargeable lamp which sent Aussies into a spin thanks to the 'luxurious' glow it gives their homes. Jess Fussell, from Perth, recently purchased the trendy buy to liven up her common room. 'The $17 lamp from Kmart that every girly home needs,' she said. Jess also bought her coffee table books and various other pieces of home decor from the bargain retailer. 'Kmart is really elite at serving affordable decor finds.' Sydney-based interior designer Emma Bloomfield previously told FEMAIL that layered lighting adds a touch of softness to create a dynamic room. She recommended choosing a combination of lamps, pendant lights, and sconces instead of harsh overhead tube lights. Swapping out hard white lights for warm bulbs and moving over to dimmable switches that you can tailor to your mood will help you have more control over the functionality and feel of the room. Kmart's portable touch lamp is perfect to add dimension to any room - and the low price means you can buy multiple to place around the house for a coherent look. The lamp is only available in a gold tone at the moment but shoppers are itching for Kmart to release other colours. 'I love it! I really want a chrome silver one of these,' one said online about the touch lamp. 'Stunning - I need it in my kitchen,' another said. Another option is the Elly table lamp which looks like it came straight out of a time capsule from the 1970s with its pleated lamp shade and sage green stand. The Scandinavian inspired lamp, which is just $15, has been described as being perfect for living spaces and bedrooms. An online vintage decor store is selling a similar lamp, they claim to be from the late 70s early 80s, for $1027. The table lamp was designed by Poul Seest Andersen and manufactured by Le Klint and Holmegaard in Denmark and is 40cm tall from the base to the top of the shade. The vintage lamp is an eggshell white finish. Similar, new lamps are available online at European stores for around $300 AUD.

I'm an interior designer – here's the paint colour I'd never use in a small room, it shrinks the walls

WITH summer fast approaching, there has never been a more perfect time to give your home the refresh it's been waiting for. But figuring out what to do with each room, what colours to use, and how to make it a relaxing space can be tricky. 4 4 And it can be even harder when it comes to the rooms that are a little bit smaller than you would like. When it comes to those rooms where there's not a lot of space to work with, decorating them properly is even more important. And experts have said that it's all about the colour that you put on the walls, as this can massively impact the feel of the space. Interior designer Terry Fisher of We Buy Any Home has said there is one colour that every homeowner should avoid using when painting a small room. The property pro explained that it could actually be sabotaging your interiors without you even realising. He revealed that dark grey should definitely be on the list of colours to avoid for your home. It might look stylish on Pinterest, but in reality, it tends to suck the light out of a space - especially if there's limited natural light to begin with Terry FisherInterior designer of We Buy Any Home And he added that it can make even a decent-sized space feel smaller, darker and more oppressive. Terry said: "Dark grey is one of the worst colours you can choose for a small room. "It might look stylish on Pinterest, but in reality, it tends to suck the light out of a space - especially if there's limited natural light to begin with. 'People think it'll make a room look moody and cosy, but what it actually does is shrink the walls, make ceilings feel lower, and highlight awkward shadows. I'm an interior designer & 12 'rookie errors' are making your home look cheap - avoid Mrs Hinch grey for starters "It can end up feeling more like a storage cupboard than a snug." And it's not just about looks - it could affect your home's appeal, too. He added: 'Buyers often get their first impression from photos online. 'Rooms painted in deep grey can photograph poorly - they often look dull or cramped, even if they're not in real life. "That can put buyers off before they've even stepped through the door.' Instead, Terry recommends sticking with light, neutral tones that bounce light around and make the space feel open and inviting. He said: 'You can't go wrong with soft off-whites, pale greys with warm undertones, or even subtle pastel shades. "They make rooms feel brighter and airier, which tricks the eye into thinking the space is bigger than it is. The five colours that are becoming outdated in 2025 IT'S important to make sure that when you update your space, you create a look that won't quickly become outdated. With that in mind, interior designers have revealed the five colours that are beginning to fade now that we are halfway into 2025. Interior pro Paulina Wojas from Stunning Chairs has said that 2025 is all about creating warm, inviting places. Emerald Green - "While this colour is still loved for its luxe vibe, its declining popularity could be due to it being oversaturated". Camel - "This could be due to Camel's brown-yellow undertone that may be too warm for a clean aesthetic, and 2025 interior trends favouring more muted, earthy tones such as taupe and olive.' Burgundy - "A prominent trend this year is open, airy spaces with organic elements, which could explain burgundy's declining demand". Scarlet Red - "While its vibrant hue is desirable for maximalist interiors, scarlet red's intensity can become overpowering, resulting in colour fatigue. Teal - "While this aquatic shade is still desirable and perfect for coastal, Greek-inspired interiors, the low number of teal sales could be due to changing preferences and trends shifting towards warmer colour palettes.' 'If you want to add drama, do it through accessories - cushions, rugs, or one feature wall. "But when it comes to the overall colour scheme, keep it light and simple in smaller rooms.' The right paint shade can even make your home more sellable, and Terry says it could ensure you get a higher offer. He added: 'Most people want a space that feels clean, bright and easy to live in. "And if your paint colour is putting buyers off or making a room feel smaller than it is, that could mean lower offers. 'Colour might seem like a personal choice - but when it comes to selling, it's a strategic one too.'

Kate Middleton's living room features elegant homeware buy that will make any room look timeless - and it's under £50

Kate Middleton has on occasion offered us a rare glimpse into her living room, which, like the royal's fashion, is a fusion of traditional and modern pieces. We first caught a look inside her home during 2020 when even the royals had to pivot to working from home. At the time William and Kate were either at Kensington Palace or Anmer Hall in Norfolk before moving to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor in 2022. Her love for a statement cushion is hard to miss and an array of plump throw cushions were scattered across her sofa. In 2021 Kate showed off her sage green sofa when she joined a virtual call with teachers to mark Children's Mental Health Week. Her choice of cushions featured a leaf print design with slight touches of red. Thankfully, the highstreet is full of affordable statement cushions which are guaranteed to add a touch of royal comfort to your own front room. Cosmo Cribs: I dropped most of my paycheck on this item and I don't regret it

Okay, hear me out. Dropping a large portion of your paycheck on a single piece of furniture sounds chaotic… but what if it's actually a power move? I'm talking about a fully custom-made-for-you item. When I moved into my new place, I promised myself I wouldn't go down the basic couch route just because it was 'easy.' I wanted something that looked like me. Neutral, yes, but also cosy, and a little bit fancy. After deep-diving into the furniture side of Instagram, I found Palm Living and instantly fell into a rabbit hole. Their vibe? European minimalism meets modern desert girl. Sold. Palm Living is based in Dubai and specialises in bespoke furniture that doesn't feel like everyone else's Pinterest board. You don't just click 'add to cart', you actually design the piece with them. I booked a visit to their showroom, and it was giving 'main character on a home makeover show.' Think perfectly lit setups, cosy textures, and helpful humans who genuinely want your sofa to be a 10/10. I tested different styles, lounged on everything as if I lived there, and then got into the fabrics, which was the best part. Boucle, velvet, chunky cotton blends… literal heaven and the team guided me through foam firmness (yes, that matters), custom sizing, and finishing touches. It felt less like shopping and more like curating your future living room personality. I landed on a cloud sofa with textured fabric that's basically the quiet luxury of couches. When it arrived, I actually gasped. It changed the entire energy of my space. It didn't just look good, it made me want to light a candle, put on a face mask, and take a thousand photos of my living room. Was it cheap? No. But honestly, investing in quality furniture is peak self-care. We're in our soft homebody era. I wanted something that wouldn't flatten in a year or become dated. I wanted a couch that would survive mood swings, dinner parties, and spirals alike. And I got it. The best part? Palm Living isn't some faceless furniture chain. The brand was founded in 2020 by two British co-founders, Nikki Martin and Karen Dougall, who wanted to bring affordable, high-quality, Euro-inspired design to Dubai. Everything is made to order in their own UAE-based factory, and all their designs are created in-house. So no, I don't regret spending most of my paycheck. My sofa is hot, my space is calm, and I now have a living room that looks like it was curated by someone who has their life together…even if I don't. Visit if you're ready to enter your custom furniture era. Just don't blame me when you start planning your next glow-up around a boucle armchair.
