Could your 2025 be predicted by the top movie when you turned 10? The internet wants to know
Could your 2025 be predicted by the top movie when you turned 10? The internet wants to know Who needs a crystal ball when there's a new TikTok trend? The latest social media trend asks users to take a look back at the movie at the top of the box office on their 10th birthday to predict the outcome of their 2025. There doesn't appear to be much rhyme or reason behind how the trend got started, other than users having a bit of fun. For example, when I turned 10 years old in November 2010, the top movie in the box office was "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1," according to IMDb Pro's Box Office Mojo. Here's what to know about the trend and how to search what movie was at the top of the box office on your 10th birthday. What is the internet saying? Some users feel humorously hopeful about what movie was the box office hit on their 10th birthday, and therefore, may "predict" their 2025. TikTok user KayCee said the movie at the top of the box office when she was 10 years old was the 1990 rom-com, "Pretty Woman," tells the story of prostitute named Vivian (Julia Roberts), who falls in love with a businessman named Edward (Richard Gere). "I do need a Richard Gere and a new wardrobe," KayCee said in her video, which as of Tuesday had 6.2 million views. "And before somebody says, 'Yeah, but you don't look like Julia Roberts.' No (expletive). I own a mirror, but one can dream." Movie Meter 2025: Vote for Best Picture of the year by Sunday, March 2 TikTok user Darrin Hackney said the top movie when he turned 10 years old was "Jaws," released in 1975. Hackney said he asked ChatGPT to decipher what this could mean for his 2025. He said the artificial-intelligence-driven chatbot told him he may have to face the beast this year, "just like Chief Brody" in the 1975 blockbuster following a trio of men, including Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) attempting to capture and kill a shark. Others are praying that their year sways any other way than the top movie of their 10th birthday year, specifically those who were born in 1997 when "Titanic" topped charts. What movie will predict your 2025? Here's how to check There are several online resources folks can use to learn what movies were peaking in the box office on their 10th birthdays. IMDb Pro's Box Office Mojo shows each of the top grossing films, by month, from 1977 to present day. Here's how to check your exact birth month, if you were born between these years: Visit Select "Monthly" under the "Domestic" tab. Select the year you turned 10 years old. Under the second drop-down menu from the left, select your birth month. The movie ranked No. 1 is the one that was at the top of the box office on your 10th birthday. Though IMDb itself does not categorize box office hits by month, IMDb does provide the hits by year, dating back to the early 1900s. To check what movie topped the box office by year via IMDb: Visit Under the search filter "release date," enter the year you were 10 years old. The top 50 movies will generate.
