FCSD announces hiring cycle
The Fayette County Sheriff's Department is seeking a new batch of law enforcement recruits.
Through May 30, the department has applications available at the sheriff's department or the county clerk's office or online at All applications must be returned in person at the Fayette County Clerk's office no later than 4 p.m. on May 30.
Applicants must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, pass a written Civil Service exam and physical fitness test, undergo a complete background investigation and have basic computer/typing skills.
There is a $49,720 starting salary, which increases to $50,920 after one year. Other benefits include automatic promotions at two and four years, annual pay raises, paid sick leave and holidays, health benefits and the opportunity to serve in a variety of specialty divisions.
The test will be staged on June 3 at 6 p.m. at the former Rosedale Elementary School.
