Why a Veteran Investor Is Very Bullish on Amazon.com (AMZN) and Uber Technologies (UBER)

Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is well-positioned to benefit from its cost cutting, and the latter initiative is likely to boost its bottom line, said Andrew Arons in a recent appearance on Schwab Network. Further, the company is "constantly innovating," the veteran investor said. Arons, the managing partner of Synergy Advisory Management Group, is also quite upbeat about Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:UBER). Arons' Comments on Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)'s Cost Cutting Whenever Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) carries out cost cutting, its bottom line is boosted, Arons said. "Right now (AMZN) is using 750,000 AI robots to raise the margins of their warehouses," the investor stated. Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:UBER) Is Being Widely Underestimated Asserting that Uber Technologies (NYSE:UBER) is being underestimated by many on the Street, Aron noted that the company expects to facilitate 12 billion rides in 2025. "That's a pretty astounding number," the veteran investor said. He added that 25% fewer of 18-to-35 year olds drive now than was the case about 20 years ago. Uber Technologies (UBER) also has "a couple of good strategic partnerships," Aron said. While we acknowledge the potential of AMZN as an investment, our conviction lies in the belief that some AI stocks hold greater promise for delivering higher returns and have limited downside risk. In Charlotte, HHS Secretary RFK Jr. pushes for plastic alternatives to prevent food contamination

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. was in Charlotte Wednesday to speak on the issue of plastic contamination in our country's food system. Kennedy is looking at a number of environmental and food-based systems where he said Americans, and especially children, come in contact with chemicals he said could be contributing the rise in chronic disease across the country. 'It won't be easy to change an entire system that's poisoning America,' he said. 'I don't want to drag industry kicking and screaming. I want to ask for an alliance.' At a conference of packaging, food industry and plastic science professionals in Steele Creek, RFK called for innovative solutions to our reliance on plastic packaging, which he said is hurting our health and environment. 'Microplastics and chemicals from food production and assembly lines and packaging don't only end up in our food, they end up in our soil, our water, our oceans,' he said. 'And from there they re-enter the food supply.' Research into microplastics, tiny plastic fragments usually from broken-down material, is still in its early stages, but scientists have found evidence those plastic fragments can bioaccumulate in the environment and even in human tissue. Studies have linked microplastics to poor health outcomes like heart disease and decreased fertility. At the same time, plastic is ubiquitous in our daily lives and especially in food production and packaging to keep food fresh, prevent leaks and provide light-weight, air-tight storage. Kennedy said his administration will work to incentivize alternatives, but industry leaders need to take initiative when it comes to finding solutions. Wes Carter, the president of Atlantic Packaging, said his company specializes in finding those sustainable answers. The company, which hosted Kennedy's roundtable, works with a lot of paper and fiber-based packaging. But when it comes to food packaging, he said biodegradable or recyclable alternatives to plastic require more creativity. 'We're also innovating a lot of new alternative materials in things like plastic made from seaweed or mycelium or food waste,' he said. Meanwhile, groups like the Southern Environmental Law Center, which has been involved in numerous cases advocating for stricter regulation around forever chemicals and plastic pollution, are skeptical that Kennedy's strategies will do enough to address the contamination he's concerned about. Mary McLean Asbill, the director of the SELC's North Carolina office, pointed to recent statements from the Trump Administration's EPA director, Lee Zeldin, in which he promises to roll back federal protections for streams, rivers and wetlands and restrictions on air pollution, particularly for fossil fuel-fired power plants. 'I would have hope if I didn't read the newspaper every day and see all the tweets and hear all the speeches and read the executive orders that are completely in contrast to what RFK Jr. has said,' she said. Asbill said RFK, Jr. and the EPA could work to maintain and enforce strict pollution standards in through the Clean Air and Water Acts and encourage state regulators to do the same. 'I'd like to see more stringent regulations and protections coming out of EPA, and then also from all of our state governments in North Carolina, our state agency has tried time and time again to regulate forever chemicals, and the boards and commissions set up by our extremely anti-regulatory legislature have slow rolled those rules from coming out,' she said. Krafton deepens Nvidia partnership to explore robotics collaboration

Krafton is looking to strengthen its partnership with Nvidia, as the Korean game-maker continues to secure a lead in the artificial intelligence and gaming sectors while exploring potential collaboration with the US chip designer in robotics. According to Krafton, its CEO Kim Chang-han visited the Nvidia headquarters in Santa Clara, California, on Thursday to meet with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and discuss ways to bolster their existing partnership, which was first unveiled when Krafton announced the development of co-playable character technology in collaboration with Nvidia at the CES 2025 tech trade show in Las Vegas in January. Krafton said the two leaders exchanged wide-ranging views on the future direction of technological cooperation, focusing on driving innovation in developing games through agentic AI and exploring the potential to expand into robotics, such as humanoids powered by embodied AI. 'I'm thrilled that our collaboration with Nvidia on on-device AI has led to the launch of the first meaningful product in gaming AI,' Kim said during his meeting with the Nvidia chief, referring to Krafton's inZOI, a life simulation game recently launched for early access. Unlike traditional nonplayable characters that follow scripted behaviors in game, inZOI CPCs, which are advanced AI-driven characters enabled by an on-device small language model for gaming built with Nvidia's technology, dynamically consider different game situations and respond accordingly in real time to enable more natural, immersive experiences for human players. Krafton intends to keep innovating gaming experiences for players by integrating CPC technology into other titles, such as the blockbuster hit battle royale shooter PUBG: Battlegrounds' franchise, aiming to position itself as a leader in the gaming industry.

Jon Rahm excited for Saudi night golf: 'Very, very cool'

Even though he'll be up past his bedtime, Legion XIII captain Jon Rahm is thrilled about playing this week's LIV Golf season opener in Saudi Arabia after dark. "From the moment I found out we were going to play under the lights, I've been really excited," the 30-year-old Spaniard told reporters Wednesday at Riyadh Golf Club, where the tournament begins Thursday. "It's all about what LIV Golf is all about. It's innovating and creating a new product for the consumer. ... Formula 1 decided to go at night. TV looks very, very cool and I hope golf comes out that way, as well." Rahm, who said he's usually asleep by 9:30 p.m. at home, said he has been trying to stay up until 1 a.m. to get used to having an evening tee time. "It's definitely been interesting, especially when you travel far away, to have to stay up this late," he said. "But it's part of the appeal to a special week like this one." Rahm, like most of the competitors, has little experience playing under the lights. "Obviously we're all going to have our shortcomings because we're not used to it. We've never done it," he said. "Back home there's a par-3 course that is lit at night that you can go and play, but there's a difference between trying to hit a pitching wedge and a driver. It's a whole different feel." After winning four events in their debut season in 2024, Legion XIII has a different lineup this season. Newcomer Tom McKibbin of Northern Ireland joins England's Tyrrell Hatton, Rahm and Caleb Surratt. LIV Golf also has a different format, announcing Wednesday that all four players' scores will contribute to the team tally for all three rounds. Previously, the best three scores were taken from the first two rounds, with all four scores counting only for the final 18 holes. "I like it. I like it. I think it benefits a team like ours," Rahm said. "I think we have four really strong players that are really consistent. "So I think it's better for the league in general for everybody to matter every single day because Sunday is usually really, really fun. At least last year it was incredibly fun in that regard. But I think it's better for the teams and the players' development, as well, for every round to count. I'm very much in favor of it." --Field Level Media
