Deciding to bring home a dog comes with plenty of choices: age, breed and activity levels. However, one TikTok video revealed that sometimes it is the dog who picks their human.
In a May 5 clip posted by TikTok user @jellybean_bella, a couple visited an animal shelter and looked into a playpen of puppies available for adoption. They hoped one would become their latest addition to the family, but with the pups running around, how would they decide which one to bring home?
It became obvious to them when one puppy made the decision for them. One of the small dogs sat straight up by the door. She looked up at the potential adopters with a face full of hope. Her eyes pleaded with them to pick her up. Her tail kept wagging in anticipation of her happy ending.
This pup was the only one from the litter that paid attention to the couple. The others ran around and played with each other. Some came to jump at the door, but went back to their playtime. Meanwhile, the puppy continued looking at the potential adopters, unfazed by the others' energy. She remained focused.
The couple locked eyes with the puppy, making it easy for them to realize she belonged with them in that moment. They wrote in the caption: "We just knew."
Viewers Reaction
The TikTok video amassed over 24.7 million views, 4.9 million likes and 12,900 comments as of Thursday. People immediately fell head over heels for the pup's determination to get adopted by this couple.
"You didn't pick her, she picked you," wrote one viewer.
Another person commented: "That baby picked you. She knew you were the one."
A third person pointed out that the pup "has a heart on her head," referring to the distinctive coloring of her fur at the top of her head, which appears in the shape of a heart.

Others shared their adoption stories and how they knew their dog was the one, although some revealed it might not be as glamorous as this video, yet still effective: "Mine peed on me the first time I picked him up... I said, 'Yep this is the one.'"
