KDOT changes weekend closure plans for I-135 in Wichita
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has updated its construction plans for Interstate 135 in north Wichita, scaling back a full weekend closure that was originally scheduled. Here's how to report damage Southbound I-135 will still close this weekend for pavement patching and barrier wall adjustments, but northbound lanes will remain open — a change from earlier announcements. The updated plan means that starting at 5 a.m. Saturday, June 7, southbound I-135 will close from the K-254 interchange to just past the K-96 interchange. Several ramps will also be closed, including: Westbound K-96 to southbound I-135 K-254 to southbound I-135 The loop ramp from southbound I-235 to North Broadway All affected lanes and ramps are expected to reopen by Sunday afternoon, June 8. A full closure of I-135 in both directions is now expected next weekend, on Saturday, June 14, to allow for additional pavement work and a bridge deck pour, weather permitting. Motorists are advised to follow posted detour signs, allow extra travel time, and use caution in the work zone. For real-time traffic updates, visit or call 5-1-1. Blowing dust closes down I-70 in western Kansas
COLBY, Kan. (KSNW) — The Kansas Department of Transportation has closed both eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 70 between Colby and the Colorado state line due to dangerous travel conditions caused by blowing dust. Officials say low visibility has created hazardous conditions for drivers, prompting the shutdown of this stretch of interstate. There is no estimate yet for when the highway will reopen. Motorists are urged to avoid travel in the area and to delay non-essential trips until conditions improve.
