Knife-waving man arrested at north Edmonton Walmart
The Walmart in Slave Lake. (Google Street View) A man has been arrested after allegedly threatening employees in a northern Alberta Walmart with a knife. It happened on Monday in Slave Lake. Police responded and arrested a 23-year-old man from Trout Lake, Alta. RCMP say a search of the man turned up stolen goods as well as a knife. The man has been charged with: theft under $5,000; causing a disturbance; carrying a concealed weapon; and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He has been released from custody and will appear in court in Slave Lake on June 18.

Man arrested in Sarnia after threatening soccer players with a knife, stabbing a vehicle

(Bryan Bicknell / CTV London) A man that threatened a group in a Sarnia park playing soccer with a knife is facing charges after an incident on Saturday evening. According to Sarnia police, an incident in Germain Park took place around 9:46 p.m., when police were called to the park for reports of a dispute. Calls that followed indicated that the man was attempting to stab people. By the time officers arrived on the scene the male suspect had left. Investigation revealed that the man had approached a group that were playing soccer, and asked a 24 year old for water. The victim indicated that he didn't have any, and the suspect became agitated, threatened them, and brandished a knife. The victim fled to his car, and the suspect stabbed the vehicle, puncturing the rear quarter panel. He then fled. The victim was unharmed. Officers located a man matching he description given of the suspect at a picnic table near the bathroom. The was arrested, and officers discovered a large butcher knife in his possession. A 28-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with:

Arson arrest after man 'threatened with knives' in north Belfast
A Belfast building was evacuated due to a suspected arson attack after police arrived to investigate a claim of a knife threat. Officers were called to a flat on the Antrim Road at about 21:30 BST on Friday after receiving a report a man was threatened by a gang, some of whom had knives. After arriving at the scene, officers "noticed that the property was on fire," a police statement were called and a 46-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of arson endangering life. No one was injured during the fire and the suspect remains in police custody. The police have appealed to witnesses or anyone with CCTV or other footage of the scene to contact detectives.

Man charged with extortion after armed robbery in Yellowknife
Yellowknife RCMP say they have laid charges after someone robbed a business on Old Airport Road and threatened the business' staff with a knife. In a news release Wednesday, RCMP said they got a call about the robbery Friday just before noon. They said a suspect made off with "a quantity of merchandise" and fled on foot. Frankie Eyakfwo, 36, faces a charge of extortion without a firearm. RCMP say a Justice of the Peace has remanded Eyakfwo into custody.

Standoff outside Elk Grove Village business ends peacefully, police say
The Brief Elk Grove Village police responded Tuesday to reports of a man threatening a worker with a knife. The situation unfolded in a parking lot on Pratt Boulevard and lasted several hours. The man was taken to a hospital for evaluation; no injuries were reported. COOK COUNTY - A man armed with a knife was taken to the hospital Tuesday night after an hours-long standoff with police outside a business in Elk Grove Village. What we know Just after 2:30 p.m., officers were called to 2200 Pratt Boulevard where a man was reportedly threatening a female employee. Police say they found the man in the business' parking lot, visibly agitated and holding a knife. Officers spent several hours talking with the man in an effort to calm the situation. Around 7:50 p.m., the man was taken to a hospital for evaluation. No injuries were reported. All roads in the area have reopened.
