Here are 9 beer festivals taking place in Louisville this year
Louisville may be known for bourbon, but that doesn't mean its craft beer scene should be overlooked. There are numerous upcoming beer festivals and events taking places across the city over the next few months to sample what the some of Louisville's best breweries have to offer. From Olmsted Parks Beer Gardens to the Kentucky Craft Bash, here are nine beer festivals, in date order, taking place around Louisville: WHAT: Enjoy beer from West Sixth Brewing, food from local food trucks, lawn games and fun for all. WHERE: Tyler Park, 1501 Castlewood Ave. (May 23 and Aug. 29); Seneca Park, 3151 Pee Wee Reese Road (June 13); Bingham Park, 160 Coral Ave. (Sept. 12); Shawnee Park, 4501 W. Broadway (Oct. 10); Shelby Park, 600 E. Oak St. (Oct. 17) WHEN: 5-8 p.m., May 23, June 13, Aug. 29, Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Oct. 17 MORE INFORMATION: Admission is free. WHAT: As you walk around the grounds, sample more than 100 craft beers, music from Runaway Souls, swag, cornhole, trash beer pong, giveaways, and raffles. There will also be fine wine distributors, import beers, and more. Food trucks: Riquisimo Food Truck, Dock Seafood Concessions and Bayou Butchershop. Proceeds benefit the Howard Steamboat Museum. Craft Bash will host over 50 local breweries and serve more than 175 different varieties of beers, including experimental beers collaborations that don't go into widespread distribution and are rarely found outside of a brewery's taproom, cider and seltzers. Also, vendors, games and food. WHERE: Brown-Forman Lawn, Waterfront Park, 1301 River Road WHEN: June 28, 1-5 p.m.; noon to 5 p.m. for VIP COST: $55 advance, $65 at the gate for general admission; $65 for VIP; $10 for designated drivers.
