One killed Friday in Arlington motorcycle crash, hit-and-run, police say

A 24-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash Friday morning on U.S. Highway 287 near Sublett Road in Arlington, police said. Investigators determined that the man hit the back fender of a Ford F-150 as he attempted to switch lanes, causing him to be thrown from his motorcycle, according to a police statement. He was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries. Investigators believe that someone in a GMC Sierra traveling in an adjacent lane then ran over the man and continued driving, police said. Witnesses told officers that they had seen the man splitting lanes and making multiple lane changes prior to the crash, according to the statement. The driver of the F-150 stopped immediately, remained on scene and called 911, police said. He was not injured and will not face any criminal charges. Police are working to identify the driver of the GMC Sierra, which they described as being a black, early 2010s model with a lift kit and large tires. Anyone with information is urged to call Arlington crash investigator Bridges at (817) 575-8604. Tipsters can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at (817) 469-8477. The deceased will be identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office once next of kin have been notified.

Driver dies after collision with other vehicle, light pole in Hollywood

A person died late Friday night after a traffic collision in Hollywood, authorities confirmed. The crash happened just before midnight when a driver traveling westbound on Franklin Avenue when they made what the Los Angeles Police Department called an 'unsafe lane change.' During that lane change, the driver clipped the rear of another driver's vehicle. The vehicle that was hit then rolled and hit a light pole. The person behind the wheel of that vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. They are yet to be identified. The driver who made an unsafe lane change also collided with another vehicle, although it's unknown if any other injuries occurred. It's not currently clear if alcohol or drug use was a factor in the collision. No additional details were immediately made available. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
