Closures in place on busy Mass. highway after metal panels fly off truck, smash car

Lane closures are in place on a busy Massachusetts highway after metal panels flew off a flatbed truck and struck a vehicle in a crash during the Thursday morning commute. The panels came loose on Route 128 in Burlington near Route 3 at Exit 50. Aerial video of the scene showed a vehicle in the left travel lane on the northbound side of the highway with a smashed windshield and heavy front-end damage. Several panels could be seen strewn on both sides of the highway, blocking travel lanes. 'Temporary lane closures are currently in place on I-95 northbound and southbound,' MassDOT said in an advisory. 'Lane closures are in place to allow crews to complete cleanup of debris.' MassDOT noted that the closures are expected to remain in place through the morning commute and urged drivers to avoid the area. There was no immediate word on injuries to those involved in the crash. An investigation is ongoing. This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available. Interstate 75 to have intermittent lane closures Thursday night at River Rouge

Interstate 75 will have intermittent lane closures Thursday night at the bridge over the River Rouge in Metro Detroit. The Michigan Department of Transportation said motorists in that area should expect delays during the overnight work, which is scheduled for 9 p.m. Thursday through 5 a.m. Friday. This will allow for work on the piers under the bridge. The existing four lanes will be reduced to one lane for up to an hour at a time, multiple times that night, in both the northbound and southbound directions from Schaefer Road to Dearborn Street. When the work is taking place, police vehicles and large road crew trucks will close off the affected lanes. For the latest traffic reports, check the MI Drive website.

Humber Bridge: Overnight tag lane closures for toll upgrade

Overnight tag lane closures are scheduled on the Humber Bridge as the project enters phase two of its toll system upgrade. The New Tolling System (NTS) will see booths removed for the first time in the bridge's 44-year history, with payments being made through a website or on the scheme began in March and the first phase of civil engineering works have now been next phase involved installing a new gantry, meaning overnight tag lane closures will be in place from 20:00 BST on Thursday until 05:00 BST on Friday. During the works, motorists would still be able to cross the bridge in either direction, with or without a HumberTag, but only using the toll booth lanes, a Humber Bridge spokesperson advised drivers to allow for extra time for their journey during these hours. The scheme is expected to launch in late Autumn.
