‘I Would Say.' Please, Don't
Brenda Cronin hits a variety of language abuses in her op-ed 'In Closure, May I Say That 'Been a Minute' Is Legend' (May 29): Here's another: 'I would say' is now ubiquitous when an interviewee then says whatever he wishes to say. Please, just say it. Can you imagine someone writing, 'I would write,' and then making his point in writing?
