A Maryland pet shelter lost its AC in a heat wave. Then the community stepped up
A community in Maryland rallied to the aid of a local animal shelter after its air conditioning suddenly failed on Monday due to a mechanical issue amid an extreme heat wave. The Montgomery County Office of Animal Services put out an emergency call for foster care as temperatures spiked in the facility. In the end more than 40 animals were placed in temporary foster homes during the emergency, according to local media.
