Flying from DXB during Eid Al Adha? Top travel tips to avoid delays

As Dubai prepares for the four-day long weekend for Eid Al Adha, itineraries are being finalised all across the city. While there's no shortage of amazing things to do in Dubai during the extended break, many will use this time for a short trip away from the city. And, often, that'll mean a trip to DXB for hundreds of thousands of daily passengers. Emirates is laying on extra flights to meet regional demand and flydubai has begun its busy seasonal summer schedule early to allow people more time to explore. You may like: 6 flights under Dhs1,500 you can *still* book from Dubai during Eid Al Adha Between Sunday June 1 and Monday June 9, Emirates has issued a travel warning to passengers flying from the world's busiest international airport. There are several things you can do to avoid delays when travelling from DXB this weekend. Travel tips for DXB Take advantage of extended public transport times The roads surrounding DXB are some of the busiest and most congested in the city. To avoid getting caught up during the busy travel period, try to use the Dubai Metro Red Line to arrive at the airport early. The Dubai Metro connects directly to Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 and will operate for longer during the public holiday. Starting from Wednesday June 4, you'll have until 1am to grab a ride. Extended hours can be seen below: Wednesday June 4: 5am – 1am 5am – 1am Thursday June 5: 8am – 1am 8am – 1am Friday June 6: 5am – 1am 5am – 1am Saturday June 7: 5am – 1am Arrive early and check-in early Travellers are asked to arrive up to three hours before their flight departs and to take note of their boarding times to make sure they reach the departure gate on time. Emirates has advised passengers to pass through immigration no later than 90 minutes before departure times and to get to their gate around an hour before their flight takes off. Most airlines will allow you to check-in early online, with Emirates also offering several ways to do so in person before you get to the airport in Dubai. Get luggage picked up ahead of time (Credit: marhaba) Part of a new service provided by marhaba, part of dnata and a leading global airport hospitality brand, and DUBZ, a baggage technology and logistics company, at DXB. Passengers can now check-in from their home, hotel or office and save the hassle of queuing up to drop off luggage and pick up a boarding pass. Instead, a check-in agent will issue you with your pass and your luggage will be securely delivered to the airport. Passengers can also skip baggage claim entirely by having their luggage delivered to their doorstep within hours of landing. The new service also allows DXB travellers flexible short-term or extended baggage storage options as well as secure same-day delivery across the UAE. Get through DXB quicker using smart gates If you're arriving or departing from DXB Terminal 3, you can get through passport control in a matter of seconds using enhanced smart gates. Designed for UAE nationals, GCC nationals, UAE residents and visa-on-arrival guests with biometric passports, the gates allow you to simply look down the green light without the need to scan a document. You need to be registered to use the smart gates, but anyone who has recently arrived at DXB is likely to have been registered when they entered the immigration touchpoint. The GDRFA has a handy tool to let you know if you're eligible. Lost at DXB? Try out DXB Express Maps Navigating your way around DXB isn't easy, and that's why airport bosses introduced DXB Express Maps earlier in 2025. All you need to do is scan a QR code when you see one and you'll be given step-by-step directions to your gate and any other facilities you want to check out before boarding. Avoid delays at security To ensure a smooth ride through security, there are a few things you can do on the day to make it easier. Try to avoid wearing any metal objects, such as belts, or take them off before passing through to save yourself some time going through the gates. Liquids should be restricted to 100ml per container and removed from your hand luggage ahead of time. DXB has an extensive list of banned items that won't be accepted through the gates that you should cross-check ahead of time. Morocco Simplifies Vehicle Import Rules for Diaspora in Operation Marhaba 2025

Rabat — Morocco's Customs Administration has announced two major simplifications for vehicle imports as part of Operation Marhaba 2025, the annual program supporting Moroccans living abroad during their summer return visits. 90% tax reduction for senior citizens Moroccans aged 60 and older who have lived abroad for at least 10 years can now receive a 90% tax reduction on their imported vehicle's new-state value. The customs administration has expanded accepted proof of foreign residence beyond consular certificates to include detailed residence history from police prefectures, city halls, or employment departments, residence permits or consular registration cards, foreign identity cards showing overseas addresses, and foreign residence certificates. Provincial and prefectural customs directors can now validate these alternative documents through delegation authority. Streamlined process for permanent returns Moroccans returning permanently to Morocco receive a three-year age reduction when calculating vehicle taxes and duties. This one-time benefit covers one vehicle per person and excludes diplomats and students. The customs administration eliminated previous paperwork requirements that demanded two years of pay slips from wage earners and recent tax documents from merchants and professionals. All other eligibility conditions remain unchanged. Operation Marhaba Launched in 2001 by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, Operation Marhaba coordinates annual support for millions of Moroccan expatriates visiting home. The program manages transportation, customs procedures, and logistical assistance during peak summer travel periods. These customs reforms reflect Morocco's commitment to strengthening ties with its diaspora while reducing bureaucratic barriers. The changes particularly benefit older Moroccans who have established long-term residence abroad and those making permanent returns to their homeland. The customs administration has published an updated official guide online detailing all new provisions. These measures aim to ensure smoother services across all national customs structures during the busy summer travel season when Moroccan communities worldwide return home to visit family and friends.
