An Airdrie couple is planning to tie the knot after winning a whopping $1 million on the lottery.
Jack Puglas won the maxmillions prize on the May 6 Lotto Max draw.
He says he was making his morning coffee when he checked his ticket on the Lotto Spot app.
'I scanned it a few times before I went to wake my fiancé up,' he said in a Tuesday news release.
Puglas bought his winning Lotto Max ticket from the Circle K on First Avenue N.W. in Airdrie.
'I bought the ticket while I was picking up Slurpees for my kids while they were at soccer practice,' he explained.
The pair headed back to the location to make sure their winnings were real.
Puglas says they're both thrilled with the windfall.
'We've been engaged for 12 years, and now we can actually plan a wedding,' he said. 'We can set a date.'
'We purchased our first house just a month ago and now we can pay it off and start on renovating it,' he added. 'We'll also put some money away for our kids' school.'
