4 Alabama School of Math and Science students named as coauthors in science journal
MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Many high schoolers look forward to seeing their names on a diploma, but four local students got to see their names in a biology journal before they even walked across the stage.

The four students were Kingston Barnes, Kahyeon Jeon, Alayla Roussell and Kimberly Gregson. According to a news release, they attended the Alabama School of Math and Science.
Barnes, Jeon, Roussell, and Gregson received coauthor credits due to their work during a summer internship with Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine researchers.
'During the summer of 2024, four high schoolers assisted in the investigation of small RNA production in colon cancer, along with Glen Borchert, Ph.D., professor of pharmacology, second-year medical student Noel Godang, and biomedical sciences major Anita Nguyen,' a news release said.

The findings of the project were published in the microPublication Biology.
