Pakistani troops kill 14 militants in raid in northwest region near Afghanistan
ISLAMABAD — Pakistan's security forces raided a militant hideout and killed 14 insurgents during a shootout in the country's northwest, the military said Wednesday. The overnight raid was conducted on the reported presence of Pakistani Taliban belonging to an Indian proxy in North Waziristan, a district in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said in a statement. New Delhi did not immediately comment. Pakistan's military said sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate Pakistani Taliban groups it says are sponsored by India. Pakistani authorities often accuse India of backing outlawed Baloch Liberation Army and Pakistani Taliban groups that commit violence in Pakistan. The accusations have intensified since May in the wake of heightened tensions between the nuclear-armed nations . There has been a cross-border escalation between the countries over the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir, which is divided between the two but sought in its entirety by each. The Pakistani Taliban, which calls itself Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP, has been emboldened since its allies, the Afghan Taliban, returned to power in 2021. Many TTP leaders and fighters have taken sanctuary in Afghanistan.

Hamas agrees to release 10 more hostages
Hamas has agreed to release ten living hostages being held captive by the terror group and return the bodies of 18 others. The militant group made the announcement in a statement Saturday and said it was being done on the condition that a number of Palestinian prisoners be returned in exchange. Hamas said the agreement comes after a proposal by U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. "As part of this agreement, ten living prisoners of the occupation held by the resistance will be released, in addition to the return of 18 bodies, in exchange for an agreed-upon number of Palestinian prisoners," Hamas said. Two police officers, four Pakistani Taliban killed in rare raid in Azad Kashmir
MUZAFFARABAD, Pakistan: Security forces acting on intelligence raided a militant hideout in Azad Kashmir, triggering a shootout that left two police officers and four Pakistani Taliban fighters dead, police said Thursday. The rare overnight raid was carried out in the Rawalakot district, according to Abdul Jabbar, the police chief in Kashmir, which is split between Pakistan and India and claimed in full by both countries in its entirety. Jabbar said the killed militants were members of the Pakistani Taliban, who are known as Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan or TTP and are allies of the Afghan Taliban. He alleged the TTP is acting as a proxy for India and said police thwarted an attempt by the insurgents to create a base for future attacks. There was no immediate response from New Delhi. While Pakistani security forces frequently target TTP hideouts in the restive northwest and elsewhere, such operations in Kashmir are rare. TTP is a separate group and has been emboldened since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021. Many TTP leaders and fighters have since found sanctuary in Afghanistan.
