Multi-agency search launched off Donegal coast for missing swimmer

A multi-agency search operation has been launched for a missing swimmer off the Co Donegal coast. A member of the public raised the alarm shortly before 4pm on Saturday that there were people in difficulty in Lough Swilly near Buncrana. Search for missing swimmer off Buncrana coast

A search is continuing for a missing swimmer in Buncrana in County Donegal. The Irish Coast Guard told BBC News NI that an alert was raised shortly before 16:00 local time by a member of the public who reported that there were a number of people in difficulty in the water. One person was taken from the water and brought to Letterkenny University Hospital but their condition is unknown. The multi-agency operation is being led by Malin Head Coast Guard with assistance from police and the ambulance service. An Irish Coast Guard helicopter is also involved in the search along with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
