Be a ‘Rah-Veer', earn cash reward by saving road accident victims' lives
Bhopal: Take a road accident victim to a hospital and get a reward of Rs 25,000. The scheme named "Rah-Veer", an initiative of the Union govt, has been implemented in Madhya Pradesh.
Rah-Veer is a scheme for grant of award to the good samaritan who has saved the life of a victim of a fatal accident involving a motor vehicle by administering immediate assistance and rushing to hospital within the golden hour of the accident.
The objective of the scheme is to motivate the general public to help road accident victims in emergency situations and save innocent lives. The MP cabinet meeting held in Indore expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the implementation of the "

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the "Rah-Veer Scheme" initiated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, has now been implemented in the state.
District collectors have been instructed for its execution. The scheme includes a provision where any citizen who takes an accident victim to the hospital within the crucial "golden hour" and saves their life will be rewarded with Rs 25,000 (increased from the previous Rs 5,000).

If a citizen directly brings the injured to a hospital, the hospital will inform the police, who in turn will notify the district collector. A copy of this report will also be given to the individual, and the reward will be directly transferred to the individual's bank account by the transport department. Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, govt of India (Road Safety Cell) issued detailed guidelines in this regard on April 21 last month.
As per provisions under section 134 A of the motor vehicle amendment Act 2019, rules for good samaritan have been notified by the ministry of road transport and Highways on September 29, 2020.
The rules provide legal protection to the people who give reasonable assistance those who are, or who they believe to be, injured, ill, in peril, or otherwise incapacitated. The Union govt stated in April 21 guidelines it has been felt that there is a need to motivate the general public, "through cash awards and certificates", to help the road accident victims in emergency situation and to boost their moral, and also to inspire and motivate others to save lives of the road accident victims.
