Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere Stars The Bear
We thought Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story killed the genre, but the success of Bohemian Rhapsody proved that musical biopics are still pretty lucrative in the box office. The next person getting a film? Bruce Springsteen.
Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is set to come to cinemas in October, and we have a new trailer featuring Jeremy Allen White ( The Bear ) as the music legend. Check this out:
From 20th Century Studios, 'Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere' chronicles the making of Bruce Springsteen's 1982 'Nebraska' album when he was a young musician on the cusp of global superstardom, struggling to reconcile the pressures of success with the ghosts of his past. Recorded on a 4-track recorder in Springsteen's New Jersey bedroom, the album marked a pivotal time in his life and is considered one of his most enduring works—a raw, haunted acoustic record populated by lost souls searching for a reason to believe.
The premise is actually interesting in that it looks like it's going to focus mainly on one point of Springsteen's life, which is the making of his Nebraska album. When it comes to the musical biopic formula, it does seem like the movies are trapped with trying to encapsulate an artist's whole life.
I'm not saying Springsteen could go a different direction, but people are starting to get wise to the musical biopic formula again, and maybe 20th Century Pictures would want to keep ahead of that.
Watch out for Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere when it comes to cinemas on Oct. 24.
