Rains opens first Scottish store in Glasgow

Danish brand Rains has hit what it says is a 'milestone' in its retail expansion by strengthening its UK presence with its first Glasgow store. Glasgow is Scotland's largest city and one of its key shopping destinations. The contemporary outerwear lifestyle brand has opened a 100 sq m store there at 203 Ingram Street in the Merchant City neighbourhood. The new space reflects its 'neo-Scandinavian aesthetic [and] is designed to combine its heritage with the energy and vibrancy of the Glaswegian creative community'. Rains opened its first store in the British Isles in 2018 with a landing in London and now has three London locations plus a store in Ireland's capital city, Dublin. It also has longstanding partnerships with Selfridges, Harrods and Fenwick. But opening a standalone in Glasgow is clearly an important move for the brand that offers premium waterproof outerwear, bags and accessories. The debut there isn't only about its style credentials and strong tourist flows as it's 'one of the UK's rainiest cities'. As such, the Glasgow store highlights Rains' key silhouettes alongside fresh seasonal drops 'designed to equip urban explorers for the ever-changing demands of the local climate'. As for the location, it's a prime retail site with other tenants on Ingram Street including END., Polo Ralph Lauren, Cruise, Mulberry, Flannels, Boss, and Emporio Armani. 'It's exciting to launch in a city with such a strong cultural landscape, with world-renowned art and design schools, which is one of the reasons we chose Glasgow as the home to our first Scottish store,' said co-founder and CEO Daniel Brix Hesselager. 'Rains is, after all, a brand that Philip [Lotko] and I created while at design school in Denmark. The store itself showcases our minimalist approach to design; a simple environment ensures our rainwear, bags and accessories attract all the customer's attention.'
