‘Black-listed': Anastacia reveals the moment she realised she'd never achieve success in America
Don't miss out on the headlines from Music. Followed categories will be added to My News. Anastacia has one of the most recognisable voices in the music industry, but heartbreakingly an entire continent never got the chance to experience it. Breaking out in the early 2000s with iconic banger I'm Outta Love, Anastacia quickly became one of the biggest pop stars in the world and she's enjoyed success ever since, and will soon be bringing her sell out NTK25 tour down under. But one place the American's tour won't be visiting is North America, and it's all because record label politics meant that one of the biggest music industry markets on earth never got the chance to get to know Anastacia's vocal talents. 'I'm at that age where I'm fine with what I've got. My resume is beautiful and I'm proud of it,' the feisty singer told 'At the beginning, I felt like what's wrong with me, because I didn't know the reason why.' Anastacia. Picture: Jason Edwards As she prepared to go into the promotional tour for her second record, Anastacia finally realised the incredible success she was experiencing around the world was never going to happen in her home country. 'Then I kind of got an idea of what happened between the radio station and the record company, that it was like a power struggle thing,' she continued. 'And the radio stations made you. The record company made the radio station upset and I was the black-listed name.' 'So it wasn't that I was this rejected artist in America. It was like, they never actually knew me.' She'll be playing four shows later this year in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Picture:. While she was never given the chance to show off her talents in the US, thankfully the rest of the world immediately embraced her powerhouse vocals and ear for a banger. After performing to sell out crowds in Europe, Anastacia has announced that she's bringing her latest tour to Australia later this year. She'll be performing in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney in September, with just a handful of tickets left remaining for fans to snap up ahead of the shows. Anastacia's Not That Kind 25 tour starts at The Forum in Melbourne on September 24, before heading to the Coliseum Theatre in Western Sydney on September 26, the Sydney's Enmore Theatre on September 27, before a final show at Brisbane's Eatons Hill Hotel on September 29. Tickets are available here. Originally published as 'Black-listed': Anastacia reveals the moment she realised she'd never achieve success in America

A 17-year-old girl from Australia, Pheobe Bishop, has been missing for almost two weeks after missing a flight she was scheduled to be on In Bishop's latest TikTok post, which she shared two days before she went missing, she shared a cryptic message that mentioned her family and finding herself In their latest update, police said search efforts were focused in Gin Gin as well as the area around nearby Good Night Scrub National ParkAmid the ongoing search for 17-year-old girl Pheobe Bishop, who vanished after being dropped off at an airport nearly two weeks ago, reports are surfacing about the final post she shared on TikTok before disappearing. In a TikTok post she shared two days before she went missing, the teen participated in a social media trend in which she pretended to have coffee with her younger self, according to Sky News and According to Sky News, at one point, the teen asked, 'Do me and mum get along and did we finally make her proud?' In response, she reportedly wrote that 'she will never be proud' and that they didn't see or talk to each other 'but it's better like this.' "I asked, 'Are you okay?' and she replied, 'Like you care.' I said, 'I am you,' and she stopped and stared," she wrote at another point. "She started to bawl, as she quickly jumped across the table into my arms.' She ended the TikTok by noting that she was prioritizing 'finding herself," according to the Australian outlet and the Mirror. Meanwhile, in another post from March she wrote, 'I'm not built for this town, these aren't my people," reported Sky News. The teen hasn't been seen or heard from since being taken to Airport Drive at the Bundaberg Regional Airport in Queensland on May 15 around 8:30 a.m. local time, local police said in a Monday, May 19 news release. Queensland Police Detective Acting Inspector Ryan Thompson previously said the teen was visiting somebody close to her, and that the people who dropped her off did not enter the terminal with her, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. According to a previous police statement, Pheobe had been living at a residence in Gin Gin for a while. "It is not a direct family member that she resides with ... I believe there were currently two people that she was living with," Thompson told the ABC. In an update on May, 26, police said search efforts were focused in Gin Gin as well as the area around nearby Good Night Scrub National Park, noting that "recent investigations show some evidence may have been moved from the Good Night Scrub area, prior to police arrival." Additionally, authorities said that a number of items, which they believe are linked to the investigation, have been located and are currently being examined. Speaking to local reporters in an audio clip shared with PEOPLE, Thompson said that there are 'no signs' of a struggle and that the investigation is still being handled as a "suspicious" missing persons case Reporters also asked about weapons that were reportedly found inside one of the cars owned by one of Bishop's roommates. "At this point in time, the weapons that have been located are not being linked specifically to this investigation," Thompson said. "However, we're not ruling anything out," he added. "We're just keeping all possibilities open." Thompson went on to note that the grey Hyundai the teen is believed to have traveled to the airport in, which they seized, is no longer being examined. As the investigation continues, Bishop's family shared a statement with police about the 'sassy, feisty' young girl, who 'followed her own beat to life.' 'Pheobe would never not touch base with the people she loves,' the family said. 'She would never go this long without contacting someone or anyone.' Actress shares tragedy of 13-year-old son's suicide after ‘relentless' bullying — hopes to ‘cryogenically preserve' his body
An Australian actress whose 13-year-old son died by suicide has explained her desperation to urgently raise $200,000 within seven days to 'cryogenically preserve' his body. Clare McCann yesterday revealed to fans that her son Atreyu had taken his life last Friday after 'months of relentless bullying.' Her announcement on Instagram was accompanied by a link to an online fundraiser she had set up to fund cryopreservation of his body — a process she believes could offer the possibility of revival in the future. 'All I really need to say is how much I really need these funds to give my son what he wanted,' McCann told 'About six or seven years ago we started talking about the after life and heaven and I talked to him a little about cryogenics, and he told me he would like to do that. 'Over the years we talked about that that's what we would want to do together, never separate. He deserves a second chance to live the life he wanted. 'We would talk about maybe we would be revived in a future so far ahead that humans have the ability to swim under water with extended breathing with the dolphins and the whales, or fly, or live on another planet … we would talk and dream about to so much.' The fundraising page states that Atreyu 'tragically took his own life' and that his mother is 'urgently raising $200,000 to cryogenically preserve his body within the next 7 days — or the opportunity for him to live again will be lost forever,' she wrote. At the time of writing, the GoFundMe has raised $2,260 against its $200,000 goal. McCann states that every dollar raised will go toward 'immediate cryopreservation and legal transportation, required medical and legal services for the procedure' and 'a trust in (Atreyu's) name to protect his legacy. She says that any funds raised above the $200,000 goal will go towards anti-bullying education and reform. Australia's first cryonics facility, Southern Cyronics, opened for business in Holbrook last year, making headlines last May when a man in his 80s who had died in a Sydney hospital became the first 'patient' to be frozen at the facility in the hopes of being one day revived via future technological advancements. McCann said all she had left now was to 'give him what he wanted' and 'bring an end to this horrible system of bullying that is causing so much tragedy.' She said her son was bullied from the day he started high school on Feb. 7, having been home schooled up until high school. 'It was just relentless. He started to withdraw he wouldn't speak to me about all the things but I was still advocating for him every day,' she said. 'They wouldn't expel or suspend it's wrong when there are so many incidents in schools. The school system fails children. 'The only comfort I can find right now is that this must have been our purpose.' McCann told she made repeated formal complaints about bullying to a Sydney school she says failed to protect her 13-year-old son Atreyu who she has now lost to suicide. 'He was just 13. He deserved a future. If the school and government had acted when I asked he might still be alive,' McCann told Atreyu was a student at South Sydney High School when he committed suicide after 'months of relentless bullying,' his mom said. Despite repeated formal complaints to the school, the Department of Education, and Children's Services, along with medical information and a confirmed PTSD diagnosis, no effective action was taken to protect her son, she said. 'I begged for help. I submitted complaints. I shared medical records. No one listened,' McCann said. NSW Deputy Secretary of Public Schools Deborah Summerhayes said the department was 'devastated to learn of the death of a student from a Sydney high school' and shared sympathies to family, friends, and the broader community. 'The Department of Education is providing counselling and other wellbeing support to students and staff who require it,' she said in a statement. Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Prue Car said: 'The death of Atreyu McCann is a tragic loss for his family, loved ones and the whole school community. 'No parent should go through the distress of losing a child in this way, and The actress announced the heartbreaking news on Instagram yesterday, and in further updates revealed Atreyu had died by suicide on Friday. 'It's with shattered hearts that we share the passing of my beautiful son, Atreyu McCann. He was the brightest light in my world — kind, creative, and endlessly loved,' McCann wrote on Instagram yesterday, sending shockwaves among her 62,000-strong following. 'Right now, we are grieving a loss that words can't hold. Please give us time and space as we process this unimaginable pain.' McCann is best known for her roles in the Australian shows 'Blog Party' and 'Clublife' and as an organizer of the Sydney International Women's Film Festival. She's also a regular on the Sydney social circuit, often bringing her son with her to red carpet premieres for new movies and theatrical productions. She gave further harrowing details of Atreyu's death in another Instagram post shared overnight, describing the situation as her 'worst nightmare.' 'It breaks my heart beyond what words can compare to share that in a moment of unbearable pain Atreyu took his own life. This was not his fault,' she wrote. McCann said her son had 'suffered horrendous amounts of bullying' and asked her followers to 'help preserve' his life.

Does eating cheese before bed cause nightmares? Doctor reveals the connection
Welcome to Ask Doctor Zac, a weekly column from This week, Dr Zac Turner explores the truth about cheese. QUESTION: Dear Dr Zac, I've heard this crazy rumor that eating cheese before bed can give you nightmares. I love eating cheese and crackers after dinner while a watch a good movie, but lately, I've been waking up from some pretty whack dreams. – Effie, 29, Bankstown, NSW Advertisement ANSWER: Double cream or troubled dreams? Let's slice into the truth. Blame it on Charles Dickens. In 'A Christmas Carol,' Ebenezer Scrooge famously blames his ghostly visions on 'a crumb of cheese.' But is your cheesy snack really to blame? In A Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge famously blames his ghostly visions on 'a crumb of cheese.' Dariia Belkina – Advertisement In 2005, the British Cheese Board set out to investigate. They gave 200 people different cheeses before bed and tracked their dreams. The verdict? No link between cheese and nightmares. In fact, some cheeses — especially cheddar — were even associated with more pleasant dreams. Brie-lliant, you said? Still, plenty of people swear their dreams go wild after a cheese-fueled snack. So let's look at what might really be happening under the rind. Advertisement Cheese contains tyramine, a naturally occurring compound that, in theory, can stimulate the brain by triggering the release of norepinephrine — a chemical linked to alertness, and potentially, disrupted sleep. But here's the thing: • Most people eat 30–50 grams of cheese per sitting — just a few slices or cubes. Advertisement • That delivers only a tiny amount of tyramine — nowhere near enough to whip your brain into dream overdrive. • And unless you're taking a rare class of antidepressants called MAO inhibitors, your body breaks it down just fine. In other words, your late-night snack is far more likely to be creamy than dreamy. And let's not forget: cheese is rarely eaten solo. If you're working your way through a cheese board with a few glasses of wine during that movie, alcohol could be the issue. In fact, some cheeses — especially cheddar — are associated with more pleasant dreams. lisa870 – Alcohol: it's a major sleep disrupter: • It suppresses REM sleep early on, then triggers REM rebound, leading to vivid, intense dreams. Advertisement • The result? You wake feeling like you've been drowning in an ocean of fondue all night. So if your dreams are melting into madness, it might not be the blue … but the red, rose, or white that's at the wheel. Additionally, high-fat meals — especially those rich in saturated fats — can throw off your sleep. Studies show these foods are linked to lighter, more fragmented sleep and reduced deep sleep, which can lead to frequent wakings and more vivid or unsettling dreams. Bottom line? Advertisement Unless you're on a rare medication that affects how you process tyramine, your cheese is off the hook. If anything, it's the rich meals, late timing, and alcohol pairings that stir up those surreal night narratives. And remember: Cheese is best paired with unpressed grapes and an early night. Sweet dreams — and yes, you can still keep your crackers.
