Cannes Film Festival imposes 'no nudity' rule
ALBAWABA- Ahead of its opening ceremony, the Cannes Film Festival recently made headlines after imposing a new "no nudity" rule for its attendees, sparking debate and criticism on social media.
The new rule was reportedly implemented to combat revealing dresses, such as Bianca Censori's recent outfit or the lack thereof at the 2025 Grammys and revealing outfits present at the festival in previous years.
The festival, which will take place in Cannes, France, from May 13 to May 24, will host different forms of media such as films and documentaries, alongside renowned celebrities including Robert De Niro, Denzel Washington, Jodie Foster, Tom Cruise, and many more.

Cannes' new "no nudity" red carpet rule sparked widespread confusion and debate on social media due to its ambiguity, as it doesn't disclose what kind of nudity isn't allowed. The rule added to the festival's guidelines 24 hours before its opening ceremony states, "Nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as any other area of the festival," for "decency reasons."
This marks a new era for Cannes since it's usually not so uptight with outfit rules, such as imposing a ban on nudity, so stylists and attendees might have to change some things if they want to access the renowned festival this year.
