Shafaq News / Iraq ranked as the third-largest importer of goods from the Amman Chamber of Industry during the first five months of 2025, the entity announced on Sunday. In a statement, it reported that total exports reached 2.849 billion Jordanian dinars ($4.18 billion) during that period, up from 2.540 billion dinars ($3.6 billion) in the same timeframe of 2024. India, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq accounted for more than half of the chamber's exports during this period, with a combined value of 1.635 billion dinars ($2.3 billion). Exports to the United States totaled 507 million dinars, followed by India at 395 million, Iraq at 381 million, and Saudi Arabia at 352 million. According to the report's geographical distribution, Arab countries led with imports amounting to 1.396 billion dinars during the first quarter of 2025, followed by non-Arab Asian countries with 566 million dinars, and North American countries with 528 million dinars. Earlier, the volume of trade exchange between Jordan and Iraq increased in 2023 to reach 832 million dinars, about ($1.2 billion), compared to 772 million in 2022 ($1.1 billion). The economic ties between Baghdad and Amman include several fields, mainly energy, industry, and tourism.

Shafaq News/ Iraq ranked the second-largest importer of industrial goods from Amman during the first quarter of 2025, the Amman Chamber of Industry said on Wednesday. Industrial exports from the Jordanian capital totaled 1.692B Jordanian dinars ($2.42B) between January and March, up from 1.470 billion dinars ($2.07B) in the same period of 2024. The United States, Iraq, India, and Saudi Arabia were the top destinations, accounting for a combined 964M dinars ($1.35B). The US led with 324M dinars ($457M), followed by Iraq (221M dinars), India (215M dinars), and Saudi Arabia (204M dinars). Exports to Arab countries reached 828M dinars, while shipments to North America and non-Arab Asian countries totaled 335M and 310M dinars respectively. Separately, the Jordan Chamber of Commerce reported earlier this year that Iraq was the top importer of Jordanian commercial goods in 2024. By sector, mining products topped the list with 340M dinars in exports. Chemicals and cosmetics followed at 308M, engineering and electrical goods at 307M, food and livestock at 250M, and medical supplies at 146M. Jordan attracted $1.637B in foreign direct investment in 2024, equivalent to 3.1% of GDP, according to official data. Arab investors accounted for 64.8% of the total, with the Gulf Cooperation Council states contributing the largest share. Key sectors included finance, communications, and mining. The Jordanian dinar trades at around 0.70 per US dollar.

According to official figures from the Department of Statistics, the value of imports from non-Arab Asian countries decreased by 0.4% last year, amounting to 7.276 billion dinars, compared to 7.302 billion dinars in the same period of 2023. This included imports worth 660 million dinars from India. 5.078 Billion Dinars in Imports from Arab Countries In second place, the countries of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area were the second-largest suppliers to Jordan last year, with imports valued at 5.078 billion dinars, making up 27% of total imports. The value of imports from the Arab Free Trade Area increased by 48% last year, reaching 5.078 billion dinars, compared to 4.693 billion dinars in the same period of 2023, with imports of 2.912 billion dinars from Saudi Arabia. 2.816 Billion Dinars in Imports from the European Union The European Union countries ranked third, accounting for 15% of Jordan's total imports last year. Imports from the EU decreased by 0.5% last year, amounting to 2.816 billion dinars, compared to 2.874 billion dinars in the same period of 2023. This included imports worth 267 million dinars from France. 1.423 Billion Dinars in Imports from North American Countries In fourth place, countries under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) accounted for 7% of Jordan's total imports last year. According to official figures, imports from NAFTA countries increased by 11% last year, reaching 1.423 billion dinars, compared to 1.283 billion dinars in the same period of 2023, with imports of 1.331 billion dinars from the United States. Other Economic Blocs Other economic blocs accounted for 12% of Jordan's total imports, valued at 2.472 billion dinars, including 450 million dinars from Brazil. Top Imported Goods As for the list of imported goods last year, crude oil and its derivatives and mineral oils ranked first with a value of 2.651 billion dinars, followed by vehicles and bicycles and their parts, worth 1.844 billion dinars. Other notable imports included machinery, tools, and their parts (1.346 billion dinars), precious jewelry and gems (1.111 billion dinars), electrical machinery and parts (962 million dinars), grains (675 million dinars), and other materials (10.521 billion dinars).

Exports from the Amman Chamber of Industry rose by 19% in the past two months compared to the same period last year, continuing the upward trend that began at the start of this year. اضافة اعلان According to statistical data from the Amman Chamber of Industry obtained by the Jordan News Agency (Petra), the chamber's exports during the past two months of this year reached 1.102 billion dinars, compared to 926 million dinars for the same period last year. Most industrial sectors showed an increase in their exports during the past two months, with the exceptions being the medical industries and supplies, as well as the wood and furniture sectors, which saw declines of 28.5% and 19.7%, respectively. Additionally, the exports of the other eight sub-industrial sectors grew at varying rates, with the highest increase recorded in the construction industries sector, which grew by 105.5%, and the smallest increase in the packaging, paper, cardboard, and office supplies sector, which grew by 5.7%. India, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq accounted for more than half of the Amman Chamber of Industry's exports in the past two months, with a total value of 638 million dinars. According to the data, exports to Syria saw a significant rise of 276.8%, reaching 44 million dinars, compared to 11 million dinars during the same period in 2024. In terms of geographic distribution, Arab countries ranked first with exports worth 537 million dinars, followed by non-Arab Asian countries with 215 million dinars, and North American countries with nearly 207 million dinars. Exports to European Union countries reached around 56 million dinars, while exports to non-EU European countries amounted to 43 million dinars, African countries 28 million dinars, and other countries 14 million dinars. Exports from the chamber during the past two months were distributed across various industrial sectors, with mining industries accounting for approximately 226 million dinars, chemical industries and cosmetics at 210 million dinars, and engineering, electrical, and IT industries at 193 million dinars. Exports from the food, agricultural, and livestock industries reached about 167 million dinars, followed by leather and textiles at 94 million dinars, and medical industries and supplies at 72 million dinars. The remaining exports were distributed across the plastic and rubber industries at 53 million dinars, packaging, paper, cardboard, and office supplies at about 44 million dinars, construction industries at 40 million dinars, and wood and furniture industries at 3 million dinars. The Amman Chamber of Industry, which was established in 1962, currently has 8,600 industrial establishments as members and employs 159,000 workers with a capital amounting to approximately 5 billion dinars.
