PETALING JAYA : DAP Youth has hit back at claims the party has been fanning racial sentiments, as alleged by PAS's Sanusi Nor, citing the many controversial statements by leaders from the Islamic party.
The wing's chief, Woo Kah Leong, alluded to claims by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang that non-Muslims and non-Bumiputeras were at the root of corruption.
Woo also referred to claims by PAS MP Siti Mastura Muhammad, who had to pay damages of more than RM800,000 after she was convicted of defaming three DAP leaders by linking them to the late Communist Party of Malaya leader Chin Peng in her election speeches.
He also alluded to claims by PAS that Malaysians were waving China's flag despite the police confirming that only Chinese nationals were involved.
'As experts in fanning racial issues, PAS has no right to accuse others of doing so,' he said in a statement.
Last night, Sanusi, the Perikatan Nasional election director, accused DAP of fanning racial sentiments when denying that his party PAS and Bersatu had done so.
'DAP is a dangerous party. It is chauvinistic and racist. Despite the image they try to portray, history has shown that since DAP was established, temperatures have risen,' he was quoted as saying at a ceramah in Bidor, Perak.
