Al Suwaiq Hospital 82 per cent complete
AL SUWAIQ: The implementation rate at Al Suwaiq Hospital has reached 82 per cent, the Ministry of Health announced. Constructed on a land area measuring 287,000 square metres with a built-up area of 47,357 square metres, the 260-bed hospital has a total cost of RO 75 million.
Engineer Yousef bin Yaqoub Ambu Ali, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Projects and Engineering Services at the Ministry of Health, said that the new hospital in the Wilayat of Al Suwaiq is one of the important health development projects in Al Batinah North Governorate.
He added that the hospital will have an accident and emergency unit, a radiology department, a nephrology unit, outpatient clinics, a rehabilitation unit, intensive care units, a gynecology and obstetrics department, a special care unit for premature babies, a daily operations department, administrative offices, a meeting room, a central sterilisation department, hospitalisation wards, among other facilities. He stressed that the establishment of an integrated hospital in Al Batinah North Governorate to provide healthcare at both the primary and secondary levels contributes to achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040 which aims to improve and sustain health services in the governorate.
The existence of a local hospital would reduce pressure on existing hospitals thus contributing to the provision of faster medical services. The establishment of Al Suwaiq Hospital reflects the government's commitment to meet the needs of citizens across the governorates. It embodies the decentralisation approach and is a step towards developing and improving healthcare services and enhancing the integration of the healthcare system, the official said.
Once operational, Al Suwaiq Hospital will provide healthcare services to citizens while expanding the existing healthcare services provided by Al Suwaiq Health Complex and other health centres in the Wilayat of Al Suwaiq. — ONA
