A source said the officer drove his police vehicle to the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Corridor towards the direction of the Shenzhen Bay crossing to handle a separate report of a broken-down vehicle. He fell off the bridge when the bus crashed into his vehicle.
'[The policeman] was severely injured but conscious,' the insider said, adding the officer was in a critical condition. He was sent to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment.
Commissioner of Police Joe Chow Yat-ming was on his way to the hospital to visit him, the source added.
Citybus said it was cooperating with the investigation.
