Tragic reason increasing numbers of men in committed relationships are spending thousands on OnlyFans

Men are spending up to five figures on developing parasocial relationships with OnlyFans models and porn stars despite already being in settled relationships. A damning investigation in The Cut revealed that many of these men are simply seeking 'connection' and are happy to keep dipping into their wallets to sustain it. One woman told the publication she discovered her boyfriend of four years was secretly subscribed to 40 different women on the app. Meanwhile, another woman found out that her husband had forked out more than $46,000 chatting to models on OnlyFans. She explained: 'He thought that they were friends and that she liked him just as much as he liked her.' One man admitted he was spending up to $600 per month to chat to women on OnlyFans, 'just to have someone pretend to care about my day and say good morning'. Last year, another women came forward to reveal that her husband had spent $135,000 on OnlyFans, plunging the family into bankruptcy. Rival platforms Fansly and Chaturbate are also draining male wallets at alarming rates. Relationship coach and OnlyFans creator Kate Shelor explained that the biggest problem today is that many men are 'starved for connection'. She added: 'Calling it an "OnlyFans addiction" oversimplifies a much deeper issue. Most of the men I speak with aren't necessarily addicted to content - they're starved for connection.' Shelor went on: 'OnlyFans gives them something they don't get in real life: attention, fantasy, and intimacy without rejection. But like any coping mechanism, it can spiral when it's used to soothe unprocessed pain or loneliness. 'It's very complicated but I don't think we will find an answer or a solution by shaming these men. Instead, I think we need to get curious about what they're really searching for. 'While OnlyFans already has a daily limit that users can spend, I think that it might be a positive step to send out periodic messages with resources for loneliness, mental health support and social anxiety for those who are struggling.' Sexual psychotherapist Paula Hall previously explained how she's seen a huge boom in men addicted to pornography in the last 15 years. Research from her Pivotal Recovery program, which helps men overcome their addiction, discovered that 90 per cent admitted porn use had affected their sexual functioning and 79 per cent said it increased their risk of divorce or separation.

An OnlyFans Deal Would Yield Billions for Its Secretive Owner

A big prize might be within reach for Leonid Radvinsky. The owner of OnlyFans, the platform hosting everyone from celebrity chefs to porn stars, is exploring a number of offers for the site that would value it at about $8 billion, according to a person with knowledge of the matter. Reuters earlier reported that a consortium led by investment firm Forest Road Co. was weighing a bid, citing sources it didn't identify.
