Ibiza launches new ban to combat overtourism - as thousands of Brits risk being affected

Ibiza has introduced a major new rule designed to combat overtourism on the popular Spanish island. The island is now limiting the number of tourist cars and caravans that can visit. In place from June 1, the rule is set to run until September 30 throughout peak season in Ibiza. During the four-month period, only 20,168 vehicles used by non-residents will be allowed on the island. Up to 16,000 of these can be rental cars while the other 4,108 will be for tourists who travel by ferry to the island with their own vehicle. Tourists who want to take their own car to Ibiza will need to obtain a permit at a cost of €1/84p per day. Caravan owners will need to provide evidence of a campsite booking and won't be allowed into Ibiza if they plan to wild camp at the side of the road. The rule has been introduced in an attempt to combat overtourism in Ibiza. The island is now limiting the number of tourist cars and caravans that can visit to combat overtourism Although Ibiza has just 160,000 residents, it gets more than three million tourists per year. As the number of tourists has risen, more cars have hit the road, causing congestion across the island. Ibiza has recently seen protests against tourism with locals complaining that the industry has caused housing to become unaffordable. Last year, more than 1,000 protestors took to the streets in Ibiza to rage against mass tourism. Ibiza has already introduced tough rules to curb rowdy and drunken behaviour around the island. In San Antonio, one of the island's main party destinations, people are no longer allowed to drink on the street. Shops that sell alcohol have to close between 9:30pm and 8am and people can be fined up to €1,500 /£1,266 if their drinking disrupts the peace. The tough drinking rules are also in place in popular party destinations in Majorca, another Balearic island. Up to 16,000 of the cars allowed can be rental vehicles while the other 4,108 will be for tourists who travel by ferry to the island with their own vehicle It's thought that Majorca will also introduce restrictions on tourist vehicles with a ban possible from summer 2026. And a similar scheme is already in place on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. The region uses an alternate number plate scheme where vehicles that end in odd numbers can be driven on odd days and those that end in even numbers can hit the road on the others. The restrictions are in place during peak season in the popular Italian destination to combat congestion.

Region of Waterloo says 550 acres have been secured for Wilmot land assembly project

The Region of Waterloo says it has secured more than 70 per cent of the farmland needed for potential large-scale development projects in Wilmot Township. The plan involved 770 acres, or six separate properties, between Nafziger Road, Bleams Road and Wilmot Centre Road. As of May 14, the region had already acquired 550 acres of the land which, under provincial guidelines, meant it qualified as a mega-site. That classification would make it a much more attractive location for future employers. Other factors in its favour were the property's proximity to Highway 7/8, existing hydro, water and wastewater infrastructure and its exclusion as a water protection area. Karen Redman, chair for the Region of Waterloo, said it is 'imperative' to support local and well-paying manufacturing jobs. Wilmot land grab A map shows the land the Region of Waterloo wants to buy. Starmer's tough policy on migration is the biggest con since Meg Ryan simulated an orgasm in a diner

Does Keir Starmer really want to reduce immigration? Does an alcoholic willingly hand over a vodka bottle? Our Prime Minister has never met an immigrant or asylum seeker he didn't like. The small-boat illegals who break into our country in their tens of thousands are all 'vulnerable people being ruthlessly exploited by vile gangs', as far as this north London human rights lawyer is concerned, no matter the cost to the British people in sexual assaults, acid attacks, diluted national values and culture, increased competition for public services and rental accommodation. We are supposed to believe the Labour leader who coldly threatened the protestors after the Southport massacre with harsh punishment for their 'far-Right thuggery' has had a Damascene conversion. (Protestors were not 'far-Right' at all, as an official report just concluded, they were simply distraught about what had become of their country now it contained maniacs from places where they machete small children to death.) Suddenly, two-tier Keir can't wait to impose tough new immigration rules: 'Without them, we risk becoming an island of strangers, not a nation that walks forward together,' he intoned in that watery croak. Oh, please. Pass the sickbag, Marjorie. What a charlatan, what a shameless shape-shifter, what a snake. Keir Starmer is worried that Britain is at 'risk' of becoming 'an island of strangers'. KEIR STARMER! Keir Starmer, the open-borders champ who loses no opportunity to demonise anyone who dares to express doubts about Labour's beloved 'communities' full of such 'strangers'. Keir Starmer, who has voted against almost every measure to reduce immigration, opposing any attempt to deter illegal migration by processing arrivals offshore – like the unceremoniously-dumped Rwanda scheme. Keir Starmer, who won't authorise a national inquiry into the rape gangs lest it reveals the Faustian pact between his party and immigrants who have not only refused to integrate, but have played on liberal idiots like him so skilfully they are apparently able to rape white girls almost with impunity. Keir Starmer, whose government is drawing up a new definition of Islamophobia that could amount to a de facto blasphemy law – silencing people who would really rather their Christian country was not the Western capital for sharia law courts. Keir Starmer, the former shadow immigration minister to Jeremy Corbyn, who wrote in 2020: 'Britain is economically, culturally and socially richer as a result of immigration. We should celebrate this and the huge contribution migration has made to our country. If I am elected leader of the Labour Party, I will always defend migrants' rights and make the positive case for immigration. We must never accept the Tory or media narrative that often scapegoats and demonises migrants. Problems of low pay, housing and public services are not caused by migrants…' Of course not, heaven forbid! Keir Starmer who went on to criticise the Tory 'obsession with chasing arbitrary, unenforceable and unachievable immigration targets. I would never adopt such a target-based approach to immigration'. So it was goodbye to the hostile-environment approach, vowed Starmer. He planned to close 'cruel' immigration detention centres and relax the family reunion rules. Because people fleeing war or persecution 'should not face a lengthy and restrictive' process before they are reunited in the UK with 27 of their closest relatives and three of their wives who can't wait to claim benefits in Hounslow and take a flat from an indigenous family. (OK, he didn't say that last bit, but it's what his attitude means in practice.) Keir Starmer who, five years ago, said his approach to immigration was 'welcoming and compassionate'. Or soft, deluded, catastrophic and a threat to national security and everything we hold dear as voters who backed Reform UK at the local elections see it. 'I've got your back!' Ah, yes, Reform. Make no mistake, behind the PM's new, tough-guy stance on immigration lurks the terror of his Government being swept away at the general election by a turquoise tsunami. (Just wait and see what Reform does to Welsh Labour at the Senedd elections next year; I hear that a large number of serving ministers are standing down for fear of Farage.) 'The Tories lost control of our borders and let net migration soar to record levels undercutting hard-working Brits, I won't stand for it,' said the PM in a cringeworthy, try-too-hard tweet. 'I promised to restore control and cut migration, and I'm delivering with tough new measures. British workers – I've got your back!' Ugh. Can we believe that the arch-globalist kissing cousin of Emmanuel Macron, the EU-philiac who did everything he could to engineer a re-run of the Referendum, is suddenly best mates with the workers who voted in their millions to be an independent, sovereign nation, taking back control of our borders? Don't be ridiculous. Keir Starmer is the biggest fake since Meg Ryan simulated an orgasm in a diner, and at least Ryan's performance hit the entertainment G-spot. Starmer's fills you with a kind of bemused contempt. Unfortunately for the Conservatives, the Labour leader is right about the scale of their betrayal – the deafening numbers admitted in the so-called Boriswave created vast and permanent demographic change and the Tories were rightly annihilated after letting in almost a million migrants within 12 months. It is all very well for Kemi Badenoch to say, as she did at the weekend, 'Our country is a home, not a hotel' when, in the final years of her party's 14-year rule, the UK was less a precious home and more a sprawling, all-inclusive Butlins. We were promised an Australian points-based system admitting highly-skilled individuals, not a salary threshold for admission so low it let in the (third) world and his wife.

Disgusting way baby used in attack against ICE agents in woke city

A furious anti-ICE protestor flung her baby out of the way to kick and shove agents in shocking scenes as deportation demonstrations gripped a small Massachusetts town. The drama unfolded Thursday morning in Worcester, where a large crowd descended on an ICE operation detaining a separate woman with an infant. Two people were arrested as the demonstration escalated, and footage showed dozens of people surrounding a car with the woman inside to try and stop it from leaving. The Worcester Police Department said it was called to assist the ICE agents as they were set upon by the mob, and cops said 'several people were putting their hands on federal agents' when they arrived. One of those arrested was a woman who was seen holding a baby in front of the car to block its path, and handed the infant to another protestor so she could kick the ICE vehicle. The protestor, who has not been identified, is facing four charges including endangerment of a child, and another woman, named as Ashley Spring, 38, was also arrested for throwing an 'unknown liquid' at officers, authorities said. Spring is facing several charges including assault and battery on a police officer after allegedly also shoving officers as the demonstration turned violent. City leaders quickly took the side of the protestors after the episode, with City Manager Eric Batista saying his 'heart goes out to all those impacted by today's events and the growing tension we all feel due to the national political climate.' The city's mayor Joseph Petty also came out in support of the demonstrators and said he was 'devastated' by the ICE operation on Thursday, which he claimed he was not notified about beforehand. 'As someone who prides themselves on leading a welcoming city, I am devastated to hear about the separation of a family, especially with Mother's Day around the corner,' he said. 'The fear of ICE tearing a family apart is the worst nightmare of so many in our city.' In dramatic footage that swept social media, around 25 residents of Worcester were seen swarming the ICE vehicle as it arrived on Eureka Street. The protestors demanded the agents identified themselves to the mob, with one agent heard saying back: 'We don't have to show you anything.' City leaders quickly took the side of the protestors after the episode, with City Manager Eric Batista (pictured) saying his 'heart goes out to all those impacted by today's events and the growing tension we all feel due to the national political climate' In a statement after the arrests, the Worcester Police Department said it was called to the scene for a 'report of a federal agent who was surrounded by a large group.' 'The crowd was unruly, and several people were putting their hands on federal agents and Worcester officers in an attempt to keep the vehicle and the arrestee from leaving,' the statement read. The identity of the woman who the group was attempting to prevent from being detained by ICE is not clear. The protests came the day before the Mayor of Newark Ras Baraka was dramatically arrested at an ICE facility in New Jersey as Democrats fight the Trump administration's hardline immigration crackdown. Mayor Ras Baraka was detained for 'trespassing' according to Alina Habba, the US attorney for the state, who said he 'ignored multiple warnings' by Homeland Security Investigations to leave. Dramatic footage showed frantic people scrambling outside the gates of the facility, before Baraka was arrested and escorted away by police. Mayor Ras Baraka was detained for 'trespassing' according to authorities, who said he 'ignored multiple warnings' by Homeland Security Investigations to leave Officers were seen shoving protesters out of the way amid the chaos. Rep LaMonica McIver who was at the facility claimed she and her colleagues were assaulted by ICE officers. Following his detention, Habba said: 'He has willingly chosen to disregard the law. That will not stand in this state. He has been taken into custody. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.' Governor Phil Murphy said he was 'outraged' by the arrest and called for his 'immediate release'. Baraka was released a few hours following his arrest. The mayor claims the detention center has been illegally housing migrants amid Trump's mass deportation push, and insisted that the jail has a contract with the city and cannot be housing migrants inside.
