Local transit offers free rides for Primary Election
YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– rabbittransit announced that its Route service in York County will be free for one day next week. rabbittransit said that the Fixed Route service will be free on May 20 during the Primary Election. Riders won't need to pay a bus fare or display a bus pass during this time. The Shiloh Baptist Church will be subsidizing the fixed route bus fares for the day to give the community an affordable way to access polling places, per rabbittransit. rabbittransit offering new commuter vanpool service
(WHTM)– rabbittransit, in collaboration with Commute with Enterprise, have unveiled a new commuter vanpool service. According to rabbittransit, the new affordable and sustainable transportation option for local employees will be called rabbitWORKS. Subscribe Now rabbittransit is partnering with multiple municipal organizations to fund the project. rabbittransit said the program will charge commuters a $40 monthly fare for the first five months of service, then $80 starting at six months. The remaining costs will be subsidized by rabbittransit. 'Our new second and third shift vanpool program represents our commitment to supporting working families across our region. By extending transportation options beyond traditional commuting hours, we're removing barriers for essential workers and expanding economic opportunity for all,' rabbittransit Executive Director Richard Farr said. 'When people have reliable transportation to their jobs—regardless of their shift—families thrive, businesses operate at full capacity, and our entire regional economy strengthens. This initiative isn't just about moving people; it's about building a more accessible and prosperous community for everyone.' Registration underway for CamTran-run Medical Assistance Transportation Program
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Cambria County Transit Authority's new partner for the countywide Medical Assistance Transportation Program is preparing to roll out the service this spring. The program enables Cambria County residents on Medicaid to receive transportation at no cost to Medicaid-billed medical appointments or pharmacies. 'Any resident of Cambria County on Medicaid who has a plan that has 'transportation' listed as one of the benefits is eligible,' said rabbittransit Executive Director Richard Farr. Through a program change announced in January, York-based rabbittransit is partnering with CamTran on the ride service. Rabbittransit serves as the program administrator, enrolling participants, verifying eligibility and ensuring the government program's guidelines are being met, Farr said. CamTran will serve as the program coordinator, with its fleet or other subcontractors' vehicles transporting eligible recipients to and from their destinations, Farr said. He said a mass mailing is being sent to Cambria County residents who've received the services, informing them of changes to the program and how to apply for a ride. Registration will launch in March via CamTran Executive Director Rose Lucey-Noll said. A recent federal funding freeze and questions over possible changes to the Medicaid program has raised questions as to whether the MTAP initiative and similar programs could be impacted. Lucey-Noll and Farr said they are currently proceeding as planned. 'We're going to continue to operate the program as currently prescribed by the Department of Human Services,' Farr said.
