Georgetown resident hit with nine charges in Erin safety blitz

(Courtesy: Ontario Provincial Police) A driver from Georgetown is facing nine charges as part of an Ontario Provincial Police safety blitz in the Town of Erin. Officers were conducting a proactive traffic enforcement safety blitz on Monday. As part of the initiative, they stopped a driver on Wellington Road 124 around 9:30 a.m. A 20-year-old from Georgetown was charged with defective braking system, operating a vehicle without insurance, failure to display two plates on a motor vehicle, driving a motor vehicle without a currently validated permit, unsecured load, operating an unsafe combination of vehicles, failure to display an inspection sticker or proof, driving an overweight vehicle and using a plate not in accordance with regulations.

(Courtesy: Stratford Police Service) The Stratford Police Service said eight vehicles were pulled off the road during their latest safety initiative. Police teamed up with Transportation Enforcement Officers from the Ministry of Transportation for the latest blitz on Wednesday. All told, 21 vehicles were stopped and 18 of those vehicles underwent a commercial vehicle inspection. Police said eight of the vehicles that were inspected were placed out of service and pulled off the road. Seven charges were laid, including four charges against owner/operators with expired registrations. One charge was issued for driving with bald tires. Inspectors said an exposed wire could be seen coming out of at least one of the tires. The remaining charges were for not wearing a seat belt.

More than 100 offences identified during Erin safety blitz

A tow truck was stopped during a commercial vehicle safety blitz in Erin in June 2025. (Courtesy: OPP) Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police said they identified over 100 offences during a commercial vehicle safety blitz in the Town of Erin. A commercial vehicle is any vehicle used to transport goods or passengers for compensation, including transport trucks, buses and tow trucks. OPP teamed up with the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Finance, Guelph Police Service and Halton Police Service to conduct the blitz on Monday. They conducted 37 inspections and pulled 20 vehicles off the road. Officers also issued 61 charges and 52 warnings, seized three plates, impounded a tow truck and the Ministry of Finance laid three charges for fuel tax offences.

Four-day safety blitz results in almost 50 vehicles taken off the road

A four-day safety blitz in Grey Bruce region yielded significant results, as almost 50 vehicles were taken out of service. The blitz, from June 10 to June 13, aimed to improve road safety and ensure compliance with transportation regulations. Out of 96 commercial motor vehicle inspections, police reported 80 charges laid under the highway traffic act, 46 vehicles taken out of service and 55 warnings issued for minor infractions. 061725 - Safety blitz Grey Bruce OPP releases significant results from a four-day safety blitz. (Scott Miller/CTV News London) The enforcement initiative focused on identifying unsafe vehicles, unfit drivers and non-compliance with commercial vehicle regulations, in collaboration with Grey Bruce OPP, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Finance, Hanover Police Service, West Grey Police Service, Owen Sound Police Service and Saugeen Shores Police Service.
