What it's like to intercept a violent tornado at night
WICHITA — On May 4, 2007, Greensburg, Kansas, was slammed by a 205 mph EF5 tornado that killed 12 and damaged or destroyed much of the town. On Sunday night, it almost happened again as a family of massive, violent tornadoes tore through south-central Kansas.
I'd awoken Sunday morning on the south side of Oklahoma City and had been anticipating a big day. The atmosphere was volatile, and something had to give.
