Fairly dry Mother's Day is followed by a soggy start to next week

Saturday evening sees tranquil weather with a partly sunny sunset. Clouds will gradually build in some more, becoming mostly cloudy overnight. No rain is expected as an area of high pressure remains in control. The night also won't be as cold, mitigating anymore frost concerns, as overnight lows drop into the low 50s and upper 40s. Sunday won't be that bad for Mother's Day! Morning planners and church goers will see partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies with an area of low pressure down to our south. As our low pressure system gets closer, can't rule out an isolated sprinkle down to the south with anyone up to the north staying dry in the afternoon. Expect a warm day in the 70s! Sunday evening keeps the clouds going so won't be the perfect sunset for Mother's Day! Evening plans for the most part, however, will be on good shape with just an isolated sprinkle chance down to the south. As our low pressure system starts to move up to the north overnight, expect the chance for showers to increase. Clouds skies and any rain chances will keep overnight lows warm in the upper 50s. Monday sees our area of low pressure move into the southern US. This will be close enough to start to bring in scattered showers in the morning with more widespread showers in the afternoon. A gloomy and soggy day to start the week so don't forget those umbrellas. Expect a few afternoon rumbles of thunder with daytime highs in the 60s. Tuesday again sees our area of low pressure around the region. This will provide a rinse and repeat day with scattered showers in the morning and widespread showers expected during the afternoon. Monday through Tuesday, our rainfall totals look to approach close to an inch, especially along our eastern mountains. No widespread flooding is expected, but some localized issues can't be ruled out. Daytime highs on Tuesday are expected to climb near 70. Look Into The Future Using Our StormTracker 59 Predictor Wednesday once again sees our nearby low pressure system in control of the forecast. Like Monday and Tuesday, this will provide more chances for scattered showers and afternoon storms. Just don't forget those umbrellas just to play it safe with daytime highs trying to climb into the low 70s. Thursday definitely looks like the driest of the days so far. The morning won't see much activity with just an isolated sprinkle at best. As we turn to the afternoon, combined with the humidity and daytime highs near 80, expect some hit or miss storms with two nearby systems. #WeatherTogether In your extended forecast, more chances for hit or miss storms continue on Friday as we see a low pressure system out west get closer. This will culminate with a cold front arriving the following weekend, keeping the rain and storms chances going. Next Sunday and Monday look to bring some more breaks with daytime highs in the 70s and 80s. TONIGHTClouds build in, becoming mostly cloudy. Dry but mild overnight.
