UAE: Dawoodi Bohra leader arrives ahead of Eid Al Adha, commences community meetings
Sultan al Bohra Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the 53rd spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra Muslim community, has arrived in the UAE and will begin meeting with community members today, continuing throughout the Eid Al Adha celebrations. This marks his first visit to the UAE in nearly two years. His last visit was in 2023 for the Muharram congregations held in Dubai. According to a statement from the community, Sultan al Bohra arrived in Sharjah on Tuesday ahead of Eid Al Adha, which will be observed from Thursday through Sunday. During his stay, he will engage with community members at Burhani Masjid in Sharjah. The Dawoodi Bohra community has a long-standing presence in the UAE, with approximately 25,000 members living and working across the country. They play a vital role in the nation's socio-economic development, contributing as industrialists, traders, professionals, and service sector employees. Sultan al Bohra was welcomed by Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Director-General of the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai (IACAD), alongside government officials, dignitaries, and senior members of the Dawoodi Bohra community. Dr Mustafa Taher, coordinator for the Dawoodi Bohra community in Sharjah, noted that Sultan al Bohra's frequent visits to the Emirates underscore the strong ties of respect and collaboration shared with the UAE leadership, reflecting his deep commitment to the welfare of community members residing in the country. He also expressed gratitude to the local authorities for their continued support in facilitating the visit and ensuring all necessary arrangements were in place.
