Provincial police lay charges in historical sexual assault investigation in northern Ontario

A 45-year-old from Englehart, Ont., has been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault and spousal assault following a historical investigation, the Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Thursday.
At about 3 p.m. on May 12, the OPP received information related to the alleged assault. Police later charged an individual with four counts of sexual assault and two counts of spousal assault.
'The name of the accused is not being released to protect the identity of the victim,' said OPP.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Haileybury at a later date.
